If money is any indication, a prominent Baltimore doctor with no political experience is an early front-runner in the 2016 U.S. presidential race.
A group encouraging retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson to run for president raised $2.4 million in the first three months of this year, more than the group backing Hillary Clinton or those affiliated with Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and other potential candidates, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.
Carson, 62, has emerged as a prominent African-American conservative commentator. He appears regularly on Fox News and writes a weekly column for the conservative Washington Times newspaper.
Carson's spokesman says he is not interested in running for president and he is not affiliated with the National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee.

Carson is awful on guns AND illegal immigration. The fundraiser John Phillip Sousa IV is a scammer who just last year raised millions on behalf of Sheriff Joe.

Carson is a member of the fruitcake SDA cult. Would never get elected or appointed to national office.
There was a concerted fundraising campaign, I received some flyers asking for $$. I didn’t respond.
He’d be great in a Ted Cruz cabinet.....

I really, really like Carson but as VP to a Republican governor.
Great surgeon, great conservative, great guy, but what else.

I would worry about a Surgeon General who’s pro gun control. He’d have the authority to tie in guns with health and wellbeing.

His gun control mentality is part of the SDA cult he belongs to. If he is true to his cult’s tenets, that also means things like refusing to bear arms in the military, no makeup for women, no wedding rings for married couples, no movies, no dancing, no rock music, etc.
And let’s not forget that Branch Davidians were a spinoff of Shepherd’s Rod, which was a spinoff of SDA. So much baggage that he’s a non-starter for elected or appointed office.
