Thank you so very much for your reply, HTRedneck.

Many times I’ve run across the name, Hugh Ross, in searching for one thing or another. From your link I ended up on Amazon previewing some of his books. I’m going to download one today for reading over the weekend. Would you have a favorite by him, by chance, that you would recommend?

I agree with you on your impression of the world after cataclysmic events. Those worlds are mostly unknowable, but so very intriguing to ponder.

As I was reading the Bible one day … (Well, I don’t really know how to put this to words. You understand, I believe, when I say that the Holy Spirit unlocks something for you. Words really fail to describe it accurately, but I will try.) As I was reading the Bible one day, I glanced across the room for a split second and the thought hit me like a ton of bricks: “I’m reading something that means so much more than what it appears to be on the surface.” That’s as close to explaining the thought as I can get. I don’t mean just the symbologies, parallelisms, etc., but a far deeper meaning that mere words absolutely fail to convey. From that second on, reading the Bible has never been the same for me. It’s as if I’m scratching off the surface layer of something to find beneath it a universe that’s been hidden in plain sight.

The “surface layer” is true, yes indeed, but there’s so much more underneath. The Word is telling us so much more than what the … Ah! How to put it??? There’s just layer after layer after layer! It’s discovery after discovery, and memorized verses keep popping up in my mind to shed more light on more revealed truths. God is so amazing. There is no way mere humans put the Bible together solely by their own minds. A person can prove the Bible to be accurate to anyone willing to be shown the truth of it. Or, to put it more accurately, GOD proves His Word to be true to anyone willing to learn from Him.

Never was I one for science. Not until I was gobsmacked with what I wrote above. My world shifted at that moment. Now I can’t get enough of it. Science, as everything else, is His. It’s His Word that created the science now studied, and it is beautiful. The more I learn of Quantum Physics, the more taken aback I am by the verses I’ve read over the years that were then to me words that I took on faith to be true, but not then understandable. How faithful is Our Lord.

Oh! Forgive me, please, HTRedneck. I’ve gone on and on, and I fear I’ve made a fool of myself in my fervor for His Word. It’s just that it’s exciting for me whenever I “meet” another person so much engaged in, and in love with, Him and His Word, and who understands how deep it really goes.

I’ll hush it now and go back to previewing the books. Please let me know if you do have a recommendation of Ross’ work. May God bless and keep you, HTRedneck.

Warm regards,

SC

Ya know, I think Ross’s take is fascinating and pretty much most of what he has to say can be seen on line. He also has a line of books in which he treats various subjects.

He’s taken the position that the laws of physics stayed constant from the creation on. Such a postulate results in interesting conclusions about the lifetimes of stars. I don’t know, however, whether the universe we see today is the universe of the initial creation, or at least where Adam and Eve and the unspoiled Garden were. Ultimately I am agnostic about that issue absent some significant proof one way or the other. One great thing that Ross does highlight is the troubles that conventional evolutionary theories will run into. It is asking for luck after luck after luck to have happened by chance; quite different from the purposefulness of the Lord.

I wish you success with your research. The creation does reflect the glory of the Lord, even if people can’t all come to the same conclusion about the details of how.

Great post! I envisioned the Holy Scriptures as a sort of supernatural hologram. There are deeper dimensions to it that only He can illuminate for us. Only God could have devised such a thing.
