The group Tea Party Patriots filed suit on this Tax Day against the Internal Revenue Service for documents about the agencys infamous targeting of conservative groups last year.
The group hopes the documents will shed more light on why conservative and tea party groups were singled out for extra scrutiny by the IRS while applying for non-profit status ahead of the 2012 election.
Tea Party Patriots also wants to learn more about the specific roles of former IRS official Lois Lerner and other Obama administration officials in developing these regulations that led to the special targeting, officials said Tuesday during a conference call with reporters.

Do not forget Elijah Cummings role in the IRS scandal.
So this action is in addition to the RNC lawsuit filed against the IRS today?
S-W-E-E-T!
What will they do when the IRS refuses to do anything? Write a strongly worded letter? While I hope they get satisfaction, they won't get any from Holder.
Holder cannot stop a civil suit.
Also there is a provision for a RICCO action in civil law.
They should use that and name Holder and other officials in that.
True the Vote and send all the ballot-can stuffers to prison. Hard time!
Table-tilting bump.
Also, although it's almost unheard of these days ..... I'm told by an attorney that there is still provision in the law for a private prosecution, a feature of the law that goes back to Roman times (when most prosecutions were, in fact, private -- like Cicero's prosecution of the notorious defalcator and statuary-robber Gaius Verres).
A private prosecution would have to be privately funded, but it could compel testimony just like a public prosecution.
And it would SEVERELY embarrass Holder Justice.
BTTT!
If a witness refuses to answer a question, the answer is deemed to be whatever is claimed by the questioner.
HINT: Use the “Freedom of Information Law.”
FR needs a LIKE button!
Can it be filed in Texas?
I recommend sanctions.
Also civil law has broad discovery provisions. Testimony can be compelled
So why hasn’t someone done this already?
They can certainly show damages!
I hope you are right. I think with many of us, our blood is near the boiling point. I want to see these a$$ holes clapped in irons, and thrown into deep, dark dungeons, to rot.
The IRS should be sued as a criminal organization.
Neut Gingrich also made this suggestion.
That is what a RICCO action is whether criminal or civil.
Holder could not stop a civil action, especially if it names him personally.
There are severe penalties involved for those involved.
