U.S. should send troops to quell Ukraine crisis
washingtonpost.com ^ | April 15, 2014 | James Jeffrey

Despite much diplomatic effort, the situation in Ukraine worsens. A coordinated Russian campaign, including an invasion threat, special operations destabilization in eastern Ukraine patterned on the Crimea model, and warnings of gas cutoffs document ever more clearly Vladimir Putin’s aim to cripple the Ukrainian government and control much or even all of this strategically vital European country.

The Us is giving up territory to China because we have no money. To save Ukraine, we lose another state.

No deal.

May I suggest people are missing the faint here.

Obama probably has the conference room phone for the Washington Post on speed dial.

At the next White House press conference the question might have been: “WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?!?!” To which the response would be: “Aaaah...well...the thing is...aah...”

You see now with this article they are steering the questioning and the state media will take the hint. The question will be: “Will you commit grown troops?” And, in the response to that the White House can appear to be measure and calculating, but firm. As opposed to “Aaah...we think that...it’s a compli...kinda thing...”

See how well that works.

Just my 2 cents...we’ll see.

I know on Air Force Flights you have to pay for your own Box Lunch (AKA Bag Nasty). I experienced it first hand. And I sure as Hell wasn't going to or from a Combat Zone.

I can't imagine the brass telling you "Bring your Own Trail Mix Boys, we can't afford to feed you" as they are flying into Kandahar.

Disgraceful.

Exactly, it is up to Europe to defend their own “freedom,” if they don’t want to do it...why should we truly be involved?

Long-view, because all of the Middle East hangs in the balance.

Long-view, if we get involved what will China do? Although cutting off exports and trade to the US might be the best thing that ever happens to us and finally brings manufacturing back home. But...the con to that is with all the regulations here, would we ever be able to get it all up and running again? But then...that would give 0bama a lot of clout to set-up his centralized economy.

Is it fair to say that wars are typically driven in response to contrived and promoted events that the citizens of countries that will inevitably be forced to sacrifice are kept basically clueless? It would be interesting to hear some heavy thinkers, aka conspiracy theorists, unravel what interests, country and organizations could be behind this.. It all came out of nowhere.

I’m a strong pro-Ukraine, anti-Putin guy.

That says you've not been paying much attention to anything over the past decade and a half or so.

Matt Drudge is referring to Putin as the leader of the free world

Pat Buchanan believes (as I do) that God is on Putin's side:

The United States is still demographically a Christian nation but you'd never know it from observing our government. All you ever read about our government doing these days is supporting regimes which persecute Christians and Christianity, and then you ask whose side you think God might be on? You think God could ever be on the side of George Soros, Monsanto, and the Obunga state department?? For that matter do you think God would be on the side of "conservatives" who weren't bright enough to see through demoKKKrat/NWO/Soros/US_StateDept propaganda and BS??

WHAT Ukrainian government?? Does this clown mean the collection of thugs, unreconstructed nazis, and Soros stooges who just overthrew the legitimate government of the Ukraine with a false flag op which killed dozens of their own people???

The only kleptocratic dictator or would-be dictator in this picture is named Soros, not Putin.

Wouldn’t be like that at all. All of the Russian military is right there, and they won’t be sending limited equipment and advisors to a foreign nation to annoy us...

Communist leftists in Soviet Union despised and murdered millions of Christians. A lot of that bigotry was imported to the USA in the 20th century calling themselves liberals.

Wow! Looks like you (Uncle Miltie) and I joined this little party “the morning after”! Everybody wore themselves out!

I’ve read about 200 of the 237 posts and did not see ONE having to do with
A reason that perhaps we all might agree on. That reason is the Marxists in the Pentagon andthe WH and their sycophant lawyers writing ROE’s that get our kids slaughtered.

To me, until that changes, I’m against sending our troops anywhere other than to stop the Russkies entering Alaska.

That would be 7/8 of the Wermacht. All of this bravado is shamefully reckless. The Russian people are very tough and would not play well. Ask the Germans, Romanians, Italians, Hungarians, Finns, Poles, etc. They also did not have air superiority most of the time. So stupid.
