A Connecticut community college suspended a student veteran for his aggressive questioning of Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy during a public forum, prompting a First Amendment advocacy group to condemn the college for its flagrant disrespect for free speech and due process.

The student, Nicholas Saucier, tried to get Malloy to answer questions about his support for gun control legislation, which has put Saucier’s ammunition manufacturing business in jeopardy. Saucier followed Malloy to his car after the governor finished speaking at a public forum at Asnuntuck Community College. The exchange took place in October of last year, and was captured on video.

Shortly thereafter, Saucier received notice from the administration that he was suspended on grounds that his “continued presence on campus would present a danger to the persons, property and/or academic process of the College.”

The student was officially charged with engaging in harassment and showing disrespect for Malloy, in violation of ACC’s student code. Administrators claimed that Saucier became increasingly hostile, called Malloy a “******* snake,” and reached into his pocket for something that could have been a weapon. (It was actually a video recording device.)

Colleges are the places with the least freedom of speech and thought

Totalitarianism........it's what's for breakfast, lunch and dinner in Obamaland. The colleges and universities are breeding grounds for future Marxists. We have to find more Conservatives who are willing to buck the status quo and give students the option of thinking for themselves. Critical thinking hasn't much been taught in decades..

Sounds like he did a little more than "ask questions at a public forum."

Further proof, that if you get rid of the Second Amendment, it’s only a matter of time before the First one goes bye-bye as well.

Was he charged with a crime? The school has decided he’s a danger for something he did outside of school hours.

I was just pointing out that he did more than "ask questions at a public forum." The first sentence of the story leads you to believe that was all that he did.

What’s the name of that college? Assnumbnuts? It must be named after the incumbent governor.

“Sounds like he did a little more than “ask questions at a public forum.””

The community college is a public venue, and a citizen does have the right to question an elected representative in private as well as in public. The elected official was not harassed in any way and could have asked to terminate the conversation, but voluntarily chose not to do so. The officials of this commuity college have acted improperly, if not criminally, and should be dismissed from any futher employment by the State of Connecticut and the community college. Public support, public funding, and private funding of the community college should be curtailed insofar as it is possible to do so until the student and other students can enjoy the Constitutional rights at the college without further fear of political retribution.

Isn't it strange how all the "theatrics" seems to come from Connecticut?

= = = = = = = = = = =

Hmm... “IS that a gun in your pocket or are you glad to see me”?

The only ‘possible’ thing he could have done ‘wrong’ here is, if while following him back to his car, he was asked to cease and he didn’t. Even then, it is a judgement call and if no one chose to charge or arrest him, he basically did nothing wrong.

For the school to throw him out is quite ‘over the top’.

As to the ‘could have been a gun’ is like the old
“We arrested you for drunk driving because you were in your car sleeping and you could have driven off”

“Officer, you have a penis- could I charge you with rape because you have the equipment etc”?

It’s the usual with the left. It has to be their truth, and their power.

He shouldn't have followed Malloy.

That was bound to have foreseeable repercussions.

Followed Malloy —

But, but, but, don’t the major news networks do valuable undercover investigations consisting of hidden cameras and sneaky ‘interviews’ and maybe even ‘follow’ people?
