I appreciate the Koch Brothers financing political ads against the Dems who voted for ObamaCare. However, I'm taking an informal poll here. Tell me FReepers; if you think ads that end like this are effective: "Call her today, and tell her to stop spending taxpayers' money on ObamaCare." Is this effective or should the ad encourage voters to just get rid of her? They are running similar ads against Braley in Iowa and Udall in Colorado that say e.g. : "Tell Bruce Braley to stand with Iowa and stop supporting ObamaCare." Is that cool, or should it say: "Iowans, don't send Bruce Braley to the United States Senate; send him home."

I wish they would be more vocal about getting rid of these people for good. Take what you will out of that.

I wouldn’t say it’s crap, but, I will say they could have gotten more bang for their buck if they’d have said: “Vote the bitch out.”

Doesn’t matter what WE think, we’re not about to vote for them anyway. But for those who are moderate/independent/on-the-fence, it’s more effective to link their vote to a universally unpopular program (Obamacare) than to attack a politician who they may like, have given money to in the past, or have benefited from.
The key think is to motivate those voters to vote against these incumbents, even though incumbents have many advantages. Just remember, Nevada voters gave Harry Reid another six years...

AFP is incorporated as non-partisan so they are limited in the phraseology of their ads.

They are not cutting enough. If you can oppose someone for office, you can go after them.
You can have really good ads that get the point hammered home without being an ass about it. it’s called making fun of them by their own liberal hypocrisy. you can prove they suck by what they say and do and making them own it. without being an ass.

Then at least they need on the soundtrack background the song “Say Goodnight the Party’s Over” singing in the background.

Koch Style ad? Just what is that? Is it the lighting, the tone of the announcers voice? They are at least bringing attention to the issue... or is that your problem with the ad?
Everyone has a voice and they just have the money to hold the feet of the left to the heat. Howe about you?

Now, that's a good idea. (Except the correct lyrics to "THE PARTY'S OVER" are: "Call it a night; the party's over..."

...should it say: "Iowans, don't send Bruce Braley to the United States Senate; send him home." I think it is for legal reasons, because of the campaign censorship (finance) laws. They can spend money on "issue advocacy" ads, but not endorsing a candidate. Part of the censorship laws which McCain helped the Democrats pass.
To: JSteff
Wow dude.... who pissed you off today that you jump in there and take it out on me? I’m just wondering if the ads would be more effective if they were a little more direct on defeating the candidate than making a phone call. Geesh.... go take care of that sexual frustration.

hmmm thanks i didn’t know htat.
i think they could get away with it b/c it could be referencing any number of things, like the guy being for obamacare, or being for whatever they’re mentioning in the ad, not necessarily boot his ass out of office - though that would be the assumption of many.

A better ad would feature Osama Obama saying “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan,Period” and then a newspaper headline appears (preferably from a major Maoist rag...you know the ones) saying “350,000 Californians to lose health coverage by next month”...then,Osama saying “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.Period”...
and then a headline “400,000 policyholders in New York given a list of 15 primary care doctors and 23 pediatricians from which to choose”....

Well, not exactly...
-
As sung by Doris Day in 1956:
The party’s over
It’s time to call it day
They’ve burst your pretty balloon
And taken the moon away
It’s time to wind up
The masquerade
Just make your mind up
The piper must be paid

I, too would like to know the answer to that question.
What is a “Koch-Style” ad?
The ad you linked to is short, simple, and to the point.
I like it.

Too often the bright bulbs in the ad agencies overthink, underthink, are artsy-fartsy by nature, sometimes try to be too cute by half in their ideas or think they can sell political campaigns like they sell laundry soap.
They are creative and hard-working types, but stubborn, conceited...and too many are just as isolated from fly-over country folks as the elected representatives they work for. Conservative candidates should shop around and research before they hire an ad agency.
I know all this because I used to work for one!
