“In February, the Eighth Joint National Committee released controversial guidelines that relaxed blood pressure goals in adults 60 and older from 140/90 to 150/90. The guidelines also eased blood pressure targets for adults with diabetes and kidney disease.”

150/90 is pretty high.

150/90 is pretty high.

I recently tangled with the medical profession on an unrelated issue (having avoided them for decades, despite knowing I had high BP).

Doc freaked out at my BP, which was in the range you cite. Prescribed Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide.

Now all I have to do is eat a decent meal, and my BP crashes to double-digits on the first number, and I need to lie down. WTF?
