David Cameron has claimed divine inspiration was at work when it came to drafting a key concept for Conservative Party policy.

Speaking last night at his Easter reception in Downing Street, the Prime Minister reportedly said he was simply doing God’s work when he launched the “Big Society” initiative of volunteering and civic responsibility.

“Jesus invented the Big Society 2,000 years ago,” Mr. Cameron said. “I just want to see more of it.” …

This is what the Tories say about their “Big Society” policies. I don’t see a particular connection to Jesus, though.

That’s a tad presumptuous, even for a Tory Brit.

Jesus put out a press release to say that the National Health Service was definitely not His idea.

“Jesus invented the Big Society 2,000 years ago,”

The political system, Biblically espoused, is one of limited government. Since God is sovereign and perfect justice, His law is Supreme. Thus. human governments fulfill only limited functions such as providing for the national defense, administering justice when disputes arise between individuals, and settling questions of God's law.

So Jesus was crucified because He wanted people who won earthly popularity contest for control of resources to become as well as live like fat cats off the taxpayers and lobbyists $$$?

God knew right and well that when the Israeli’s were begging for a “king” what the end result would be. Samuel protested this over and over. In the end...they got what they wanted.

Anybody who says “Jesus demands and taught civic duty” nonsense is Biblically illiterate.

The biblical system for providing help for the orphans and widows is one of high respect of private property (2 out of the big 10 deal with this),

and VOLUNTARY charity.

The focus should be that he speaks of volunteerism, and that he acknowledges:
“It is the case that Christians are now the most persecuted religion around the world,” Mr Cameron said. “We should stand up against persecution of Christians and other faith groups wherever and whenever we can.”

"Ideas have consequences"(Weaver).

In America, the ideas of 1776's Declaration of Independence from coercive government power came out of a set of ideas consistent with individual liberty. Those ideas came out of a far different philosophical foundation than that which is espoused and coercively imposed by today's so-called "progressives."

We tend to forget, or have never considered, that other world views existed then, as now.

Unless today's citizens rediscover the ideas of liberty existing in what Jefferson called "the American mind" of 1776, we risk going back to the "Old World" ideas which preceded the "Miracle of America."

There are those who call themselves "progressives," when, in fact, their ideas are regressive and enslaving, and as old as the history of civilization.

Would suggest to any who wish an authentic history of the ideas underlying American's founding a visit to this web site, at which Richard Frothingham's outstanding 1872 "History of the Rise of the Republic of the United States" can be read on line.

This 600+-page history traces the ideas which gave birth to the American founding. Throughout, Richard Frothingham, the historian, develops the idea that it is "the Christian idea of man" which allowed the philosophy underlying the Declaration of Independence and Constitution to become a reality--an idea which recognizes the individual and the Source of his/her "Creator"-endowed life, liberty, and laws to protect them from tyrants posing as "protectors" and "grantors."

Is there any wonder that the enemies of freedom, the so-called "progressives," do not promote such authentic histories of America? Their philosophy puts something called "the state," or "global interests" as being superior to individuals and requires a political elitist group to decide what role individuals are to play.

In other words, they must turn the Founders' ideas upside-down in order to achieve a common mediocrity for individuals and power for themselves.
