April 08, 2014, 12:54 pm Husband of woman McAllister kissed: 'He has wrecked my life'

By Rebecca Shabad

The husband of the woman who was caught kissing Rep. Vance McAllister (R-La.) in a video that surfaced Monday says the congressman has destroyed his life and marriage.

“I’m just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man. I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it. I feel like I’m going to wake up here in a minute, and this is all going to be a bad nightmare,” Heath Peacock told CNN on Tuesday.

Peacock told CNN he wasn’t aware of what happened until his wife, Melissa Peacock, 33, called him a few hours before the news broke.

“He has wrecked my life,” Peacock said of McAllister on CNN. “We’re headed for divorce.”

The couple has been married for six years, and they have a 6-year-old son.

“It was just a kiss; that was all it was, but it embarrassed me and my family,” Peacock said. “This guy has turned my life upside down.”

His wife was seen kissing McAllister in surveillance footage that went viral on Monday. The Ouachita Citizen said it obtained the video clip from an anonymous source. It was recorded on Dec. 23, a month after McAllister was sworn into office.

Melissa Peacock was the congressman’s district scheduler, and was taken off payroll as of Monday night.

McAllister, meanwhile, says he doesn’t plan to resign and has asked God, his family and his constituents for forgiveness.

The congressman said he told his wife of 16 years about the encounter earlier this year, and they are working through it.

McAllister was elected to replace Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-La.) in a special election last fall. He ran ads touting his Christian faith, but Peacock told CNN he believed that was just a ploy for votes.

"I know his beliefs. When he ran one of his commercials, he said ‘I need your prayers,’ and I asked, ‘When did you get religious?’ He said, ‘When I needed votes,’ ” Peacock said. “He broke out the religious card, and he’s about the most nonreligious person I know.”

“I think I smell a lawsuit and maybe a payoff for this husband. Then he and the wife can kiss and make up.”

If she and her husband set the Congressman up in expectation of such a payoff, that is conspiracy to commit a felony.

I doubt that it is just coincidence that she waited right until the camera was on them for her to initiate the kiss.

you have no idea whether or not they stopped to kiss in other spots/places/areas up until that point... imagine what they might have done in an elevator...

His plumage is ruffled.

These people are so stupid I don't even know were to begin, and I'm talking about the stuff they are doing after the incident.

First off, why is she the one of payroll, because in 99% of these cases she would be put on paid leave at the worst.

Meanwhile Congressman Idiot is still collecting his check.

The husband is overreacting a bit, if he wants his kid to grow up with divorced parents over a kiss rather than try to work out things with the wife then that's his right, but the smart thing to do would be to give her a second chance.

I have no idea why she would do such a thing. It could be for money or a personal or political vendetta.

The most significant impact of females in the workplace is wrecked marriages and higher divorce rates.

<><><>

Exactly.

Because we’re only men, after all. We cannot be expected to keep our zipper closed when we see women around us all the time. They have breasts and we can see (at least) the outline of them in their clothes. We have to have sex with them or we’ll die. They look at us and our marriage vows mean nothing, because we’re only men. We cannot say no. We are like animals, with no ability to look at the consequences of our behavior, because she is sooooooooooooooooo hot.

Peacock said. “He broke out the religious card, and he’s about the most nonreligious person I know.”

Did the Robertsons know he’s a fraud?

The woman is no longer on payroll? If I was her husband I would demand she sue him THEN get a divorce. This way he gets half of everything.

What kind of person releases such a thing?

Who cares?

Any congressman is going to have enemies. It comes with the job. They need to be smarter than this.

Ha!!

I work in the healthcare field....I'm a guy. I've had plenty of opportunities. Doesn't mean I've partaken.

Seen many horn-dog dudes in the field..too.I wouldn't place the blame squarely on women.

When I watch the video, it was initially just a peck on the lips, but the woman is seen reaching for more & the congressman was more than willing.

How did they get the video?

Probably the same way that the video of Romney in a private donor meeting got out - union members at work.

I'm guessing that a union worker mans the security desk and saw an opportunity to attack a Republican. Don't ever think that surveillance videos will be kept private if there is a political opportunity in its release.

I would venture to bet this isn’t the first time these two have swapped spit. It’s more than just a kiss.

This idiot needs to watch PERSON OF INTEREST....”You are being watched.”

I asked “How” they got it.

It was from a building security system. If you view the youtube, it is obvious it was made using a hand-held camera to video a monitor showing video streams from multiple surveillance cameras in separate windows on a single monitor, probably located wherever the building security guard sits. So, more than likely, the leaker is either the guard or one of his buddies.

It's also possible the guard isn't on duty 24 hours, and somebody with after-hours access to the building used the security system to dredge up video recorded earlier. Or maybe the security system can be accessed remotely (becoming common in retail settings where employee theft is a problem).

In any case, this clown is too dumb to be in the House.

You are still assuming the kiss was a set up designed to put the congressman in a compromising position. But she had as much at risk (her job, her marriage) as the congressman had if/when the “kiss” became public knowledge. As others have noted, the “kiss” doesn't appear to be a first-timer for the couple. They apparently got careless, forgetting that when you are in public you have no expectation of privacy.

LOL! Yep. We men just can’t control ourselves, marital vows and religious faith notwithstanding.

Some FReepers think the kiss might be a setup. Setup or not, Rep. McAllister (and all men) are not really ruled by our penises. We actually—I know, hard to believe—have free choice. That includes, of course, the freedom to not make out (or worse) with a woman who is not our wife even if she wants it (and I’m not buying the “setup” malarkey one bit).

Because women get pregnant and men do not.

As I man, the last thing I want to spend my life doing is working to raise the kid of some guy who bedded my wife.

And thereby waste my life helping that other guy propagate his genes while he goes merrily on his way.

But my wife would have nothing to worry about, because any child she bears will have her genes no matter who the father is.

In fact, many women are influenced by inborn proclivities, to purposely be unfaithful if they judge their husbands to be only good for supporting the children they have, while at the same time they judge their husbands to lack the best genes for their children.

In other words, their husbands are nice boy suckers. Would natural selection evolve women who would want their own own male children to grow up being nice boy suckers, and thereby fail to pass their genes onto the next generation?

So and usually influenced by inborn proclivities, women marry “nice” boys to help them raise the children of “bad” boys. Aren’t enough bad boys to go around, you see, for every woman to find one to actually marry.

So instead either before or after a woman makes babies with the bad boy, she finds a good boy to marry and help her raise the bad boy’s kids.

And it does no good to talk about how now we have genetic testing and birth control, if our feelings about such scenarios are hard-wired into our genes, which I am sure they are.

Infidelity has different consequences for men as it does for women. The wife’s infidelity raises the horrible question are the kids mine?

If divorce proceedings are about to commence, I'd say some blood tests are in order.

If a guard recorded it why was he recording BEFORE the kiss started. It’s a security cam video. For some reason the quality is always horrible. Yet they can read a newspaper from outer space.
