Yes He Can, on Immigration
The New York Times ^ | 04-05-2014 | The Editorial Board

Posted on 04/07/2014 8:58:14 AM PDT by PaulCruz2016

If President Obama means what he says about wanting an immigration system that reflects American values, helps the economy and taps the yearnings of millions of Americans-in-waiting, he is going to have to do something about it — soon and on his own. It has been frustrating to watch his yes-we-can promises on immigration reform fade to protestations of impotence and the blaming of others. All Mr. Obama has been saying lately is: No, in fact, we can’t, because Republicans and the law won’t let me.

Mr. Obama is correct when he complains that long-term immigration repairs have been throttled in Congress. Neo-nativist Republicans fixated on mass deportation have blocked a worthy bipartisan bill. But Mr. Obama has compounded this failure by clinging to a coldblooded strategy of ramped-up enforcement on the same people he has promised to help through legislation that he has failed to achieve.

With nearly two million removals in the last five years, the Obama administration is deporting people at a faster pace than has taken place under any other president. This enormously costly effort was meant to win Republican support for broader reform. But all it has done is add to the burden of fear, family disruption and lack of opportunity faced by 11 million people who cannot get right with the law. Because of Mr. Obama’s enforcement blitz, more than 5,000 children have ended up in foster care.

Mr. Obama should know his approach is unsustainable, and immigration advocates and lawmakers have applied intense pressure on him to deport “not one more” deserving immigrant. With reform on life support, he recently told the Homeland Security secretary, Jeh Johnson, to find ways to conduct immigration enforcement more “humanely.”

That's exactly what dictators do.

I have always believed that the ends totally justify the means when there is a greater good on the line.

That says it all. They can get right with the law. Go back home and apply legally and wait your turn.

Neo-nativist Republicans? Well at least they have moved on from calling law and order Conservatives 'purists' like the mushy moderate Republicans are want to do.

The left has almost come full circle in calling evil good and good evil. The devil must be jutting out his chin and chest.

President Obumbler: how about just doing the job you are paid to do, keeping your oath of office and enforcing the laws as written?

You aren’t King George or Vladimir Putin, you’re a man hired to faithfully execute the law of the land. Something you haven’t done in the five years you have had the job.

How awful.

The poor widdew baby has to contend with that mean old Constitution and a mean old opposition party.

How can you run a country with a constitution that’s taken seriously and an opposition party, regardless of how tame?

Well, Barry, the good news for you is that nobody in government takes the Constitution seriously anymore. After all, what’s an oath to somebody who doesn’t even believe in a God, or at least a God that cares about little things like oaths and promises?

And more good news for Barry and his fellow travelers is that the opposition party is comprised almost entirely of quislings and panty-waisted milquetoasts, more concerned about their perks and country club atmosphere than getting themselves diry with actual political activism.

Of course, good news for the statists is bad news for the rest of us.

I wish a speedy demise to the entire membership of the editorial board of the New York Times, on the heels of the collapse of the entire Leftist Fraudulent enterprise that is a pox on freedom and liberty and America and everything good and decent in the world.

What about the family disruptiion, and lack of opportunity for U.S. citizens who have lost their jobs because of Obams's mishandling of the economy?

These idiots infuriate me by pushing for amnesty at a time when millions of Americans are unemployed. The fake 6.7% unemployment number gives them cover to spread their lies. The real rate of 15 or 20% unemployment would expose them for the traitors they are.

The Slimes is owned by Carlos Slim Helu, the most successful corrupt criminal on the planet.

He is only interested in extending his power so this editorial is about him being able to shoehorn his people in to the American political system.

After that, their job will be to turn as much of the U.S. into Mexico so that Carlos Slim and his thug buddies can loot more of the country.

Amnesty is a religious movement joined with the open borders gated community crowd. One needs bodies to fill their pews and the other demands cheap workers to clean their potties, change their babies dirty diapers, and keep their lawns well manicured. Neither cares one hoot about the US Constitution.

I wonder if the traitors at the Times would also like to see what millions of Americans could do all on their own? If lawlessness is sauce for the goose, then surely it is sauce for the gander.

"That's exactly what dictators do."

There is only one way to deal with dictators. The problem is, the US is not a third world country (although it is quickly accelerating towards being one). No one has the spine to correct this mistake.

They would never be advocating this if the GOP were willing to make them pay politically for it. It’s the pro-amnesty faction in the GOP that has encouraged this kind of aggressive behavior from the Democrats.
