Women begin feeling invisible to men ‘when they turn 51′

Women feel invisible to the opposite sex at the age of 51, it emerged yesterday.

A detailed study of 2,000 women revealed a large percentage felt they no longer received the level of attention they once did after hitting 51.

Many even went as far as to admit they felt ‘ignored’.

The women claimed their confidence plummeted after hitting 50 and blamed greying hair, having to to wear glasses or even struggling to find fashionable clothes.

The lifestyle study, commissioned by herbal remedies company, A.Vogel, also found more than two thirds of women over 45 had walked into a room and felt ‘completely unnoticed’ by the opposite sex.

More than half said they felt ‘left on the shelf’ and that they’d been ‘judged negatively’ because of their age.

Health expert Eileen Durward, who provides advice and support to women through the A.Vogel website and helpline, said: ”The results show a worrying decline in confidence and self-worth in women when faced with the prospect of growing older.

”The world can feel very geared toward appreciating younger women, leaving those of a certain age to feel neglected or less worthy.

“These women are not invisible and neither are their concerns.

”They are often the driving engine behind many a family, juggling careers, looking after older relatives and bringing up children.

”All the while dealing with the ageing process and changes brought on by the menopause.

”They need to be supported, not made to feel washed up.”

The study also found just 15 per cent of women over 45 could claim they had high or very high confidence while, sadly, nearly half described themselves as not very confident at all.

The biggest reason for a decline in self-belief was the feeling that their image had deteriorated.

A dejected four in ten said not getting attention from men like they used to was a factor, more than half had felt intimidated by the presence of younger women at a social event.

A concerned six in ten of the 2,000 studied felt modern life is geared toward a focus on younger women while 46 per cent thought that a lot of what older women go through wasn’t seen or spoken about.

The research also examined the effect the menopause has on women’s confidence as they age.

The results showed around one in five who had experienced menopausal symptoms had difficulty in finding answers to the questions they had about the changes they were facing.

In fact, only 13 per cent felt women were well supported in the lead up to the menopause.

The research, which also involved 500 men, showed many have a ‘head in the sand’ approach to the menopause.

Eileen Durward, who is also an expert on menopause, added: ”Women need to know they are not alone and there are things they can do to help themselves.

“Hot flushes are a good example of something that can have a real impact on confidence, especially in social situations or at work.

”Many women don’t realise that simple steps, like breathing slowly or taking a herbal remedy containing sage, can provide relief.”

Could you let the uninformed know the “rest of the story” ?

There’s really no “rest of the story”. She just explained that women are as aware those two things are hanging out there as a man is aware of that thing between his legs, and when a woman brushes them up against you, it’s like a man brushing his crotch aganst a woman’s butt. ‘Course different people do it for different reasons, and the more well endowed they are, the more likely they are to do it, if the source motivation is there. We all work with what we got.

Sometimes it truly is unintentional, but that is mostly a “packed subway” thing.

We pray together every day (for the most part) and every day part of our prayer is thanking him for giving us each other and that our love will continue to grow as it has in the past.

What’s weird is that lately I’ve been sharing with my wife that I thought it was as joyful and complete as is possible for human beings and then He bumps it up yet another notch, and yet another, and so on. Sometimes it is almost overwhelming. I’ll start tearing up as I drive home because of how I feel about that woman. And she’s the same way about me.

It doesn’t come from us. We are truly blessed by the Lord.

Having raised all boys and a husband, I learned that very early on. It would be so much simpler if they installed a urinal and a toilet in home bathrooms. It would fit the needs of both sexes. Even when I get up in the middle of the night, I feel to see where the seat is. Being the only female, I was at a disadvantaged. My boys are adults now, but husband is 73, you can’t retrain at that age.

It is hard enough to get him to eat a better diet than take 2 cholesterol pills each day, which I am positive cause a lot of his muscle pain. They tried 5 on me, after I pitched a $200 bottle of WelChol after just 5 pills, I told the doc no more. I have lowered my tris by stopping nearly all sweets, including high sugar fruits, limiting carbs to veggies, 1 slice of whole wheat bread if I eat bread. Use pan sprays and bake, broil, grill most meat, limit portion to 4 oz. I have halved my cholesterol numbers with just food and cooking changes, it also has lowered his some. But his is genetic, where mine is not, and he is not a salad eater, meat and potatoes, bread and not in small portions. no sweet is safe if he finds a candy bowl.

I suspect they are divorced or single women.

You're never invisible to women if you carry one of these:

As the Broadway showgirls were dressing for a performance, one of them noticed her friend was no longer sporting a flashy engagement ring. What happened, Suzy?” pointing to the bare finger. The wedding off?
Yeah, I saw him in a bathing suit last week, and he looked so different without his wallet.”

I have the opposite take: Why can’t WOMEN learn to put the toilet seat UP??? I hate splashing on the seat when I pee late at night!

“devastated”

As the years go by I’m more worried about my health than my looks. So far I’ve never been devastated looking into the mirror.

So we will see less of her? That means less attention.

Using fenugreek as a supplement helps lower cholesterol and has benefit for pain. Not many potentially undesirable side-effects at all. One that may or may not be undesirable is that your sweat will smell vaguely like maple syrup if you supplement fairly heavily longterm, it’s a very sweet-smelling herb. It also has some benefit sexually in both genders. Prior to recent years, it was primarily known for and used with the intent to increase lactation in nursing mothers, but has gained a measure of notoriety as a subtle treatment for ED in males with a somewhat corresponding affect among females.

L-Arginine is another, it works by increasing nitric oxide, a vasodilator. It can lower blood pressure, and both of these can inhibit blood clotting somewhat. So, if you’re on any sort of medication to treat high blood pressure, blood thinners such as coumadin, etc. you’d want to speak with your doctor about it before beginning to use them. L-Arginine used alone can potentially lead to outbreaks of any latent viral infection if not paired with L-Lysine, so that’s another consideration. If you’re prone to cold sores or have warts, you might want to think twice even though it’s really pretty good for energy, recovery time from muscular activity, pain, I use both of these.

If they are talking about “cougars” then good for them. I hope the woman in long marriages with lots of children do not feel this way.

Women in long marriages with lots of children don’t need to be stared at by strange men for validation, and probably would feel uncomfortable if it were to actually occur.

LMAO! I once saw an older gal in a previous church who had the face of John Wayne. And no, it wasn’t during the sermon!
