The Tea Party candidate who is challenging Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) promised to "kill" ObamaCare, if he gets elected in November.
"We are not going to stand with an eye toward trying to place a Band-Aid on ObamaCare," Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel said at FreePAC Kentucky, a conservative gathering in Louisville on Saturday. "We're not going to fix it. We're going to kill it."
The event featured a number of other Tea Party speakers, including two who are running against fellow Republicans in the November elections. Many in the Tea Party are upset that mainstream Republicans aren't doing more to fight the Obama administration.
McDaniel hopes to unseat six-term Cochran, who has been in office since 1978. While Kentucky businessman Matt Bevin, who was also speaking at the event, is vying to defeat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a five-term senator.
"They say this race I'm in right now is a test of the old guard," McDaniel said in a deep Irish accent. "I'm not sure what that means. I know my opponent has been there 42 years, been there as long as I've been alive. Richard Nixon was president when he arrived."
Cochran has actually been in office for 36 years, but he did run Richard Nixon's campaign in Mississippi in 1968.
McDaniel promised to fight ObamaCare, but said he was disappointed that many Republicans have given up in the battle.
"Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) have given us an outstanding example of what courage can do, of what real leadership can do," he said. "They stood there doing their best to defund ObamaCare. That was a fight they should have fought, it was a fight we should have won. But the same old (Republicans) told us that was not a winnable solution."
McDaniel said the GOP should learn to stand up for itself and shouldn't be afraid to go against the Obama administration.
"It's the same thing everywhere we go, isn't it?" McDaniel asked. "'Republicans have to learn to compromise. We have to learn to reach across the aisle.' I don't remember the Democrats reaching across the aisle, when they basically took ObamaCare and rammed it down our throats."
McDaniel also talked about lowering the national debt. "I've got 17.3 trillion reasons to never compromise on the debt again," he said.
Medicaire would not be affected by repealing Zerocare. I am near that age (61), but I know Medicaire has to be fixed - it is broke, just like social security. The problem accelerated when the dems stole from them for medicaid and ssi. If we have to give it up for our kids and grandkids, so be it. We should confiscate the wealth of all the congresscritters who perpetrated these scams to get votes.
Well I will shut up now.
I appreciate the owner of this site, despite being strongly opposed to what I am saying, giving me an opportunity to obliquely present my view. Now I will shut up, and please just keep in mind I am actually on the same side as most on this site.
Really.
Obamacare is intentionally designed to not work.
It will clear the path to single payer. That was the objective right from the start.
I am opposed to the government takeover of heat Period.
I don’t have a federal pension and I don’t want to he forced on to a federal exchange.
Which IS what the ACA is designed to do!
What about me and what I want? I don’t get a say in how I live my life without input from the Feds?
Of heat?
I agree.
Again I won’t say any more. I’ve already pushed my luck.
:D
Hmmm, Chris McDaniel must hate the poor, the uninsured, women, children, minorities, LGBTQIA, the disabled, etc.
Did I hit all the right notes?
Lol. That too.
Healthcare!
I don’t know how heat got there. Damn autocorrect on my android. :-P
Precisely!
If we could peer into nobama's brain (a thought I admit is unseemly at best), we'd see he doesn't care about unconstitutionally changing the law 30+ times. All he cares about is truly federalizing one sixth of our economy. If he has to break a few laws to get there, it doesn't bother him in the least. What an evil, evil man.
You realize about 90 % of this phony 7 million are just the same Medicaid patients aka leeches being dumped on the Federal tax rolls and only 800,000 people who lost their better coverage and forced into high cost plans.
The Medical blood suckers don’t care
and the 800k are ticked off but just wait until 2016 when 160,000,000 people’s employer insurance explodes.
Kill it now before its too late.
There is no side to stoping it.
exactly.
Its meant to destroy America and get back at the white middle class that Barry was raised to hate since childhood.
That is what that Marxist told Congressman Dennis K in Air force One to get his vote.
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
Thank God for the H-1B program, or else no one would have a job!
abolish individual federal income taxes within the state, replacing with a state tax system that would send money to the fed equal to the states percentage of the fed budget (determined by population percentage of the country).
put that up for grabs and people would be all over it.
imagine if you just paid a flat tax to the state as a percentage of your gross income (after subtracting the poverty line)
Maybe what you could consider is that 0bamacare must go but that you think a winning issue along side that would be to include something you need in one of the many alternatives available [but shut down by harry reid]...
erasing 0bamacare is #1. It is a symbol of dysfunction, government abuse, and tyranny. To put your needs above that is myopic to say the least.
just damn
My situation is not usual.
I recognize I am holding a minority position.
You are right. I am partly arguing on one side of this issue, but I am also trying to keep awareness on this site, from drifting off too far to one side.
There are people who do not read FR. Those people vote. Some of them will not have the same views as you (or I) do, and I am partly just saying do not jump too far to one side, is all.
Just saying.
Some of those people will be influenced by how the two parties argue this particular issue.
There is a whole lot of support for your side, and I am recognizing that for the force it actually is.
But it is not everyone.
Some will be driven away, if we ride too hard on this one issue, is all I am trying to make a point of saying.
Thanks for your response.
oh noes not that again ;)
Obama’s brain has one constant thought swirling inside it...
He hates successful people. He wants to bring the upper middle class down to the lowest end possible. He will use the tax money of successful people to bribe the minimum wagers with a 40% raise to guarantee their votes.
From his lips to God’s ear ... we need more fighters and NO compromisers ... compromise only means weakness to the Democrats!
Anyone up for election who wants to run on repealing Obamacare had better address the problem of what’s going to happen to all those who have started on the program.
Someone I know who was on a state program suddenly had all his appointments spaced out over a longer period and is waiting a month for a couple of them. The reason he was given was the enormous influx of new people into the system. Those people have to be promised that they will not find themselves insurance-less once again, or there will be horror stories up the wazoo.
