They can put as much of their assets under our jurisdiction as they want.no matter how much they buy, they can’t take it home. Now, if state like Idaho, for example, wants to give them special rights, privileges or a legal “pass” for pollution laws, that’s another story.
Isn’t this what the Japanese were doing in the 80’s before everything went bust?
Yes, the Japanese bought up some very pricey real estate. Later, they lost a money when the value of real estate plummeted.
“They can put as much of their assets under our jurisdiction as they want.no matter how much they buy, they cant take it home.”
They bought our government when we stopped calling them “Red China”, started trade with them, and abandoned Taiwan. They’ve got plenty of good communists to export here as well; they are already all over our universities.
How many of them are government fronts?
Pretty much. The downturn in the real estate market can be costly if you’re over invested. Maybe the Chinese will learn something about that.
The Chinese are just calling in the mortgage they hold on the territory once known as “the United States of America”.
And at that, they are getting in here way ahead of the various Islamic land grabs. You see a mosque going up, be sure that is no longer sovereign U.S. territory.
I wish they’d buy a condo in downtown Seattle - within walking distance of Seahawks stadium....
“You see a mosque going up, be sure that is no longer sovereign U.S. territory.”
In my area they tend to be in cities, in neighborhoods Americans abandoned at least thirty years ago.
Dumb question:
Couldn’t people in China read Zillow (and other real estate) listings directly on the net?
Is it blocked by their govt?
Good for Zillow. Our economic prospects are dismal due to stupid voters voting for socialism, so we might as well go out with another housing boom and bust.
Attitudes in the U.S. are going to have to change, because the U.S. will not permanently be the global leader, Mr. Bullard said.
Realize here that a lot of work had to be accomplished by enemies of the Republic to get to the point where you could say that with any semblance of credibility...
Japan was doing this in the ‘eighties, just before their economy went belly-up.
The Japanese even bought Rockefeller Center about twenty-five years ago.
I wonder what an American of 1945 would have thought if you could have told him that would happen.
You and muir both have it right. They can’t take it with em. However, if they start stripping our country of natural resources and sending to China, that’s another matter.
Yeah, but what are they gonna do with the natives?
I would just like to point out, that no such huge purchasing of Chinese land by Americans is going on, because it is not allowed.
Just saying...
yes
and the Chi’s have been buying land in calif for decades - in he 70’s, they owned half of Wilshire Blvd - the were major landlords on the Monterey Peninsula - for Ex.
But I WOULD encourage, for this and other reasons, that people get serious about buying from /supporting local farmers and doing your own gardens,
Remember the ages old motto of the despots: “He who controls the food, controls the people.”
