April 3 (UPI) — Officials identified the shooter who killed four people including himself at the Fort Hood military post in Texas on Wednesday as Spc. Ivan Lopez.

The 34-year-old was married and had children, and had just moved to Killeen, Texas, from another military post in February.

Not really. Ivan (pronounced E-Vahn with an accent mark above the a) is a fairly common form of John in the spanish speaking world since there are many separate dialects.

Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez is probably the most notable example.

“Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, said the gunman had sought help for depression, anxiety and other problems.”

I could not help but notice the General said, “sought help”,not “received help”.

WE need to do more to help these wounded warriors. Both the physically and mentally wounded. WE run them though a meat grinder, then turn them over to the VA to abuse. Some for the rest of their lives. There must be a better way.

Obama goal? ‘Disarming of all Americans’

January 12, 2014 11:51 am

Dr. Jerome Corsi Exclusive

(Dr. Jerome Corsi) – Don’t allow yourself to imagine that President Obama will ever stop doing everything possible to take our guns away.

Now Obama has decided to play the mental health card to limit or remove firearm ownership in America.

Let’s face it: President Obama has unofficially declared war on the Second Amendment and he is doing everything possible to use little noticed executive orders to bypass Congress in imposing gun law restrictions by presidential edict that Congress would never enact into law.

On Jan. 3, President Barack Obama disregarded the Constitution and signed an executive order that will permit states to provide mental health information to government gun control authorities, totally ignoring HIPAA privacy restrictions.

Right now, federal government officials in the Department of Human Services administering Obamacare are developing profiles for Tea Party loyalists using as reasons to deny gun ownership our family history the following: any our drug use (legal or illegal) in our medical histories, zip codes (to exclude guns in areas of high crime or in government-declared “gun free” zones), our military records, any history of military-related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), or marital problems that can be construed as incidents of “domestic violence.”

Ivan is a common name in Latin America, particularly Mexico. (There was an important Russian community in Mexico at various points in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.) This guy was an American and grew up in Tucson, but his parents were probably from Mexico. Nothing schizophrenic about the name at all.

About him? I don’t know. They’re in a big hurry to blame this on the war in Iraq, because, naturally, that means it’s all Bush’s fault!

He was only in Iraq for a few months, so I’d suspect he probably had problems there, completely unrelated to the war, and was sent back early.

Did he have mental problems? Possibly, but I still think we’ll find that he had been at least been dabbling in Islam, since his attack was clearly premeditated and was no doubt meant to evoke memories of Nidal Hassan.

Islam appeals to the mentally ill because it is a weird grudge-cult that justifies violence and hatred and makes the mentally ill think that they aren’t crazy, they’re just working for a greater cause and they’re being persecuted for it. Muslims really do see themselves as picked on, even though they are the ones who initiate the violence throughout the world. So in a sense, it’s a “religion” of paranoid schizophrenics, and therefore it’s ready made for people like Hassan, or last week’s attacker at Norfolk (a black guy whose original name was Booker but who had the Muslim name of Muhammed Hasan) or, I suspect, this latest attacker.

Asked Wednesday about security improvements in the wake of the shootings, Hagel said: “Obviously when we have these kinds of tragedies on our bases, something’s not working.”

“(There was an important Russian community in Mexico at various points in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.)”

I saw a documentary last night about Stalin and this was talked of:

“Jaime Ramón Mercader del Río, a Spanish communist and agent for Russia’s notorious NKVD intelligence agency, murdered Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky in Mexico City in 1940 under orders from Joseph Stalin.”

I think we should wait and see what is known, before assuming his time in combat caused this.

His very short time in Iraq suggests that he may have had some issues fitting in....IOW his depression may have pre-dated his time in Iraq and the two may have been completely unrelated.

Also, I listened to the General’s statement, and certainly did not get the impression that he had not “received help”. The General stated he was on medication and being tested for PTSD.

No surprise. He probably didn’t belong in the Army in the first place.
