Dick Cheney Behind Closed Doors Is Basically Like Dick Cheney in Public, But With More Obama Bashing
New York Magazine ^ | Joe Coscarelli

Posted on 04/01/2014 2:36:16 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Former Vice-President Dick Cheney gave the private keynote address over the weekend at billionaire and attempted kingmaker Sheldon Adelson's Republican Jewish Coalition meeting, hitting all of the notes you'd expect and then some. In a recording obtained by Mother Jones, Cheney can be heard going especially hard on the room's key issue — Israel — explaining, "The bottom line is, the United States' position in [the Middle East] is worse than at any time in my lifetime." A reference to bombing Iran's nuclear program was met with hearty laughs and supportive applause.

On Obama

The presidential promise to protect the country from "all enemies foreign and domestic," Cheney said, "is not being pursued in any kind of coherent manner."

On weak Republicans (cough, Rand Paul)

"One of the things that concerns me first about the campaign, that I'm worried about, is what I sense to be an increasing strain of isolationism, if I can put it in those terms, in our own Party. It's not taking over, by any means, but there is without question a body of thought now that's supported by many Republicans and some candidates that the United States can afford to turn its back on that part of the world."

On the NSA (and Obama)

"[The idea] that we have created in the National Security Agency this monster bureaucracy that's reading everybody's mail, listening to everybody's phone calls, infringing upon our civil liberties and civil rights. Hogwash," he said. "We don't have a president who can stand up and defend the program. Nobody believes him — for good reason. Look what he did with health care."

Among GOP hawks, that's like hitting for the cycle. The rest can be heard here:

The left would like to believe this, but it's probably not true.

It is extremely difficult for rational decent people to hide their appropriate utter disdain when discussing the vile Obama.

Those scumbags at Mother Jones looking for their “macaca moment”. Cripes, what a crew of douches.

I wonder if they know the difference between a promise and a sacred oath of office? I'll bet Cheney does.

Maybe it is true, but so what? I believe that if I was in Big Politics, in private I’d bash Obama, too. Heck, I do now, anyway.

That's one way you can tell that generally, conservatives and libertarians believe the truth. They are not afraid to show the world what they actually believe becasue what they actually believe is generally a benefit to people.

Things like the NY magazine probably don't get that because they are used to the duality of the Leftists. The Leftists are after something (power) and they don't want to reveal that to people. People generally hate what the Leftists are in favor of - force and coercion to get what they want - so they will, therefore, hide their true intentions.

Not the NY Post - New York Magazine. It's the “lifestyle” bible for the upscale metrosexual crowd. It's political coverage is dominated by completely worthless 0bamabot cheerleaders like Jonathan Chait.

Me too but mayebe not for the same reason. I was first offended by the fact he came to that conclusion only because he has a gay daughter.

I truly hate ANYONE that uses politics and our money to promote some cause only because it now effects them. Like when Michael J. Fox is giving testimony on Parkinsons and, as usual, begs for “more money” and “more research”. Did he ever care before he was diagnosed? I’d bet real money he wasn’t even aware of it.

It’s so selfish; “Let me remake the entire country because I caught a cold”!

Hell I don't give a rat's a$$ if it is true, just where were all their stories like this about demonrats when Bush was in office? I mean why even right the story? Every demonrat already believes it and anyone with a brain will dismiss it.

Cheney knew about Obama before the 2008 election took place — he had access to personal files through FBI, CIA and NSA.

Should’ve opened his mouth then, but kept quiet instead.

I know that it is unheard of for a sitting VP to criticize a candidate for POTUS. So he kept with tradition by keeping his mouth shut and thereby allowed the country to get into this death spiral.

Good thinking, Dick.

With all the wannabee's that want to run in 16' their are 2 or 3 I might pull the lever for the rest ( Rubio, Jeb, Bobby Bacala, Huckabee, Santorum etc etc ) hang it up, bafanabala, retire to Boca Raton we have had enough already..

But you read my mind, the following has been quietly fermenting in my mind for months now and I didn't have the cohones to speak it until you mentioned it.

Obama has so fubar'd this country and all apparatuses of Gov't, at times I think Dick Cheney is the only guy with the gravitas to fix it.

And to top it off he has a new ticker.

Cheney 2016 baby....

he is blinded by the love he has for his own daughter . Errant children can do this to their parents , when they force them into accepting their own purient lifestyle choices , or breaking the bonds of love and kinship .Shame on them ! Selfish hedonistic little prigs . Parents should have a reserved right to apply the lash to such perverse offspring . Either that or find the courage to say “ goodbye “ ( forever) Some practices merit disowning , not all should be tolerated . Tolerance for licentiousness is killing our society and negatively affecting the entire human race .
