Unless I’m mistaken, Cabinet creations are authorized by Congress. A President can’t just unilaterally close a department (if only they could).

Big RINO elitist phony. He also all but gave away the last GOP-held Senate seat, too. He was really lusting after the Presidency.

Contrast that to George Deukmejian, the last decent Governor. He was on GHW Bush’s list to be VP in 1988 (perhaps at Reagan’s suggestion), but because he had a leftist Democrat in the Lt Governor’s office, Leo McCarthy, he didn’t want to risk placing the state in the hands of him and Willie Brown. Wilson would’ve dropped the job like a ton of bricks had it been him.

From a district by district (or county by county) standpoint, the original statement is true. The trouble is that the "red" districts are lightly populated central and east California towns.

Give me a break. We don't have elections decided by territory, but rather, by voters. CA is not mostly red. It is a solid blue state. We are just deluding ourselves with such statements and such maps.

What is hard to tell is if the blue shift since 2008 is really a demographic trend or just "white guilt" voting for Obama in order to be a part of the "historic" wave.

The Democrats have overwhelming control over the state government and the congressional delegation. Republican representation has been steadily declining. If you go district by district for congressional races, you will see how the Dems easily win their races while the Reps are barely winning. The blue shift has been going on for a lot longer than 2008. It is irreversible.

I thought Pete Wilson was decent?

You may have caught him on an immigration related issue, on immigration Wilson was oddly and uncharacteristically, tough, other than that he was an unlikable, oily, rino/libertarian type, who was very much out to block conservatism.

I agree with the redistricting. I watched my own district go from Bill Baker (R) to Ellen Tauscher (D), then redistricted into Richard Pombo (R) when Democrats eliminated Gary Condit's (D) district, then ousted Pombo for Jerry McNerney (D) , and then redistricted me into Pete Stark's (D) district in a successful attempt to oust him with Eric Swalwell (D) in the new "top two" system where had no Republican on the general ballot.

You can only continue to hope that Texas becomes democrat, since you despise Texas, and laud California.

LOL!

This has got nothing to do with me. Ya got millions of illegals in Texas, which out multiply legitimate Americans down there probably 4 to 2...

70% of Births are Illegal Immigrants at Parkland Memorial Hospital (Dallas, Texas)

Read it and weep.

Demographics are king.

Was the guy he appointed that got his ass kicked by Feinstein a bad choice? I think I just answered my own question.

Who else could the GOP have run for Governor in 1990?

In Texas at least 60,000 babies (from illegals) are added to their households annually.

Parkland Memorial Hospital delivers more of those babies than any other hospital in the state. Last year at Parkland, 11,071 babies were born to women who were noncitizens, about 74 percent of total deliveries. Most of these women are believed to be in the country illegally.

Remember what I said about demographics?

I’m well aware of immigration in both Texas and California, if you would read my posts to you, then you would know the reasons why California and Texas are two different states, and will remain so.

You are indicative of what passes for a republican in California, you probably would not care for Texas conservatism.

Texas and California are very similar in demographics, and immigration, and exactly the same on percentage of Hispanics, yet Texas just elected the most right wing Senator in America, and owns the governor’s seat, and many think that Senator Cornyn should be replaced, not with a Barbara Boxer, but with another Ted Cruz.

While California is voting 37% Republican in Presidential elections, Texas is voting 57% republican.

You may pray for the left to take Texas, but your prayers won’t be answered anytime soon.

Texas fights to educate, convert religiously, and educate it’s immigrants, something that the rino/libertarian Californian GOP, didn’t have an interest in.

You may pray for the left to take Texas bla bla bla

Why are you attempting to make this about me?

I'm not the issue....

I am not the one denying Texas is incrementally being overrun...

Just as it took CA many years to be overrun....It don't matter how conservative you might be...

You're incrementally being out numbered....Don't blame me.

I’d have to think on that. The problem was, in 1990, he was the only other major Republican officeholder in the state (after Deukmejian). At the time, it was all about stopping Feinstein (who was the Gubernatorial nominee). I’d have probably either looked to the House delegation or the private sector (perhaps even a celebrity — although one with bonafides, either Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood after his Mayoral stint, or Charlton Heston). Heston would’ve been great (although he was 67 in 1990, but Jerry Brown is 76).

Curiously, had Feinstein won the Governorship, it would’ve altered the dynamics for the Senate seat, since it’s possible that John Seymour MIGHT have been able to retain the seat with a weaker and lesser-known opponent (and add to that, had Boxer gone for that seat instead and Mel Levine won the nomination for the other, Bruce Herschensohn might’ve managed to pull off a win). Against Boxer in 1994 instead of Feinstein, it’s very likely Mike Huffington would’ve beaten her (though he would’ve proven an embarrassment for us in the long run after he discovered he preferred going back to anal sex with young males to Arianna, although I can almost sympathize — though said “betrayal” turned her into the angry bitter leftist moonbat we know her as today. I seem to recall prior to that, she styled herself as a Conservative spokesperson (!)).

Texas has been overrun, it is demographically and Hispanically very much like California.

The reality that you are emotionally resisting, is that the two states are totally different from each other.

California is California, because of Californians, not because it has the same immigration challenges of Texas.

You are working hard to avoid looking at why they are different, THAT, is why you are very representative of the California GOP, and why you guys never put up a struggle, frankly, the very conservatism that has saved Texas and made it a bastion of conservatism, was the type of conservatism that California republicans were, and are, repulsed by, and reject.

Many moons ago when I still lived in Cali ... a good friend sat on my couch reading a ‘cloth’ book to my daughter. This woman was a Cali ‘reading specialist’ ... she got to the picture of a xylophone with the name displayed below ... and stopped in her tracks. She hadn’t a clue ... my wife and I glanced at each other, and we knew ... either a private school later or get out of Cali ... or both! I knew that sanity in Cali had gone bye bye!!!

Texas will flip to Democrat. I will hate it when it happens, but it will happen. The fact that non-hispanic whites in Texas are more conservative than their counterparts in California will slow the flip, but not prevent it.

"Unless I’m mistaken, Cabinet creations are authorized by Congress. A President can’t just unilaterally close a department (if only they could)."

I don't think you're right, I think cabinet level serves at the discretion and creation of the sitting president.

But this I can assure you of, part of Mines's secession is based upon all education being local, the Republic and the counties are expressly prohibited other than for people in Jail and Militia members while on active duty or training weekends.

Here is the actuall section:

Section 7a. Education. All education is left to the local community, to the parents first and foremost and then to the city, town or community in which the family resides. The counties and the Republic are explicitly denied any role in a child's education with the exception of Militia members while on duty and prisoners while in the care of the county jail or prison of the Republic. The first and foremost responsibility to teach a child Religion, obedience, patriotism, loyalty, righteousness, and to be a productive member of society rest squarely upon the shoulders of the parent(s), the local communities role is to support and reinforce that parental responsibility.

Once we secede, that vote is scheduled for June 12, 2018, the work of getting the garbage and as Rush would say, the mush, out of the heads of the young will begin in honest. You really would like to be a fly on the wall as that is bandied around.

You don’t understand that Texas fights back.

Everybody knows that Hispanics mean democrat presidential voting, but few know that PROTESTANT Hispanics voted 44% GOP in 2000, 56% GOP in 2004, and 48% GOP in 2008, Texas conservatives know that people can be brought to conservatism, something that the California republicans seem unable to understand.

I have always been amazed by how shallow and weak kneed, and moderate/libertarian, non-religious, the California GOP is.

The reality that you are emotionally resisting bla bla bla

I've been patient with you, but you make comments like some 20 something female. No offense.

You are working hard to avoid looking at why they are different, THAT, is why you are very representative of the California GOP, and why you guys never put up a struggle

Gezz..Never put up a struggle?

You have no clue who I am, what I've done or what others have done...There's that female lib type debate tactic again...Get personal, call names and attempt to discredit anyone who brings in ugly facts and things you disagree with. That don't don't work here.

After considering your comments, I could care less what you think. You comment like some political party Pollyanna..

Among many other things, Prop 187 was passed by the voters in CA way back in '94, you were probably in diapers...Your government, the feds working in concert with their state co-conspirators burned the ballots and declared the election illegal...Majority wins? Free vote?

The will of the people?

This was back in '94 after a long line of other actions and efforts, including protests, demands, petitions etc... Did you not learn anything? Was this before your birth?

Americans are forced to repeatedly beg, scream, vote protest and petition to save our own country by their own government. Ya see something wrong here?

Ya think you'll change the direction of this country by traditional means, while you're incrementally being out numbered by foreigners and illegal aliens?

Divide the united.

Your GOP is a fraud...It's been proven 5,000 times in just the past 20 years. No? Are the dems worse, yes by a series of magnitudes. However, I not buying the better of two evils fraud anymore...So save it.

BTW, it now takes about 200 million to run for potus in America nowadays...Ya think this is some mistake by the corrupt bankers?

Ya think anyone but the wealthy or those in the pockets of insiders get anywhere in the GOP? Why do ya think they get more corrupt the longer they spend in government? Ya see any correlation there?

Don't be stupid.

The GOP is dead in my eyes...You disagree? That's fine...

That party is full of habitual liars and those who'll compromise conservatism and put profits over patriotism... They line their pockets and live in gated guarded mansions to keep the rif raf like you and me out. Most have been bought and paid for. Very unfortunate for all of us.

It's all about money and power to them. Most all the Dems and R's are riding in the same limo while people like you stand on the sidelines waving signs thinking they're making some kind of difference. I wished it worked that way, but it don't.

Nothing personal, I just lose my patients with those who are clearly blind to the real big ugly picture...

I've wasted probably two minutes typing this to you. You get no more of my time.

Cheers...

Prop 182, back in 1994, attempted to restrict illegal immigration by denying benefits to non-citizens. It passed the public vote but was overturned by the black robes.

If Wilson has lost the gubernatorial race he wouldn’t have resigned his Senate seat, would he have?

Ariana was a liberal democrat and purported lover of Moonbeam Brown before she become a “conservative” so she just returned to her roots. She was also a member of a cult. It sounds like she adapted to the politics of whoever her friends were at the time. What a flake. If any woman ever deserved to have “bisexual” (doesn’t sound like he’s dated anyone women since his divorce) husband humiliate her, it’s Ariana.
