The bible tells a little about this in the account of Jesus’ meeting with Thomas. Thomas was bade not just look, but feel. So I submit that it’s not exactly as if an obvious horror greeted Thomas. How the physical carries over into the spiritual world is a detail that only God can follow, and upon which we speculate at risk of distraction.
Remember, Mary didn’t recognize Him when he came back until He spoke to her. His beard had been pulled out among other things.-
