Tina Turner comes to mind ... she became a Swiss citizen in 2012 if I’m not mistaken.

Tina Turner: Why Is She Relinquishing Her U.S. Citizenship?
Tina Turner is cutting her ties with the U.S.
The R&B belter and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennesee, went to the U.S. embassy in Bern, Switzerland, on Oct. 24 to sign a so-called "Statement of Voluntary Relinquishment of U.S. Citizenship under Section 349 (a)(1) of the INA [Immigration and Naturalization Act]," the Washington Post reports.
Turner, who turns 74 on Nov. 26, has lived in Switzerland for almost 20 years. In July, she married Erwin Bach, a German music producer she began dating in 1986.
Turner told German newspaper Blick that she considers Switzerland home. "I'm very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here … I cannot imagine a better place to live," she said.
According to the U.S. embassy in Bern's activity report, Turner said she did not have plans to live in the U.S. in the future and her family was her only strong tie to her native country.
Turner is not renouncing her U.S. citizenship, though, the Post clarifies. The "relinquishment" statement means that she received the "Swiss citizenship with the intent to lose her U.S. citizenship."
What's love got to do with it? Sound like pretty much everything. Auf Wiedersehen, Tina

=====================================

Well, there ya go...the $wiss gave her citizen$hip.
$he mu$t have all her money there. $he $ure wouldn't get any of it if it were $till here.

$he was NO DOUBT $eriou$ly in arrear$ on her $tate/federal income taxe$. $he HA$ to be worth a fortune.

*******A$ an American citizen $he is $UPPO$ED to pay income taxe$ on ALL her earning$, no matter where they come from or how long she lives OUT of the U.S.A. THAT I know.

THANK goodness I made PITTANCE when I worked in Mexico City. Never had to pay taxes on the pittance I earned.
DIFFERENT $tory for Tina!

$he is not RENOUNCING her citizen$hip?
Yes, $he is PA$$IVELY doing do and did so when $he accepted Swiss citizenship. I THINK there is still a U.S. law against dual citizenship.

I wonder if she had to cough up any money for that privilege.

I wish her the best.

I wonder if her husband is related to J.S.?
She's 74!?!? Hard to believe.

NOTE: that Swiss citizenship made world headlines. That should emphasize how RARE an occasion that is. :o)

Doesn’t matter how rare or under what circumstances ... nullifies your post.

One of the things I have learned in my years on FR, never, never say something is absolute unless you are 100% sure. Otherwise someone will prove you wrong. I have been burnt on more than one occasion. LOL!
