World Vision's American branch will no longer require its more than 1,100 employees to restrict their sexual activity to marriage between one man and one woman.
Abstinence outside of marriage remains a rule. But a policy change announced Monday [March 24] will now permit gay Christians in legal same-sex marriages to be employed at one of America's largest Christian charities.
In an exclusive interview, World Vision U.S. president Richard Stearns explained to Christianity Today the rationale behind changing this "condition of employment," whether financial or legal pressures were involved, and whether other Christian organizations with faith-based hiring rules should follow World Vision's lead.
Stearns asserts that the "very narrow policy change" should be viewed by others as "symbolic not of compromise but of [Christian] unity." He even hopes it will inspire unity elsewhere among Christians.

This is a horrible betrayal, but not sudden by any means.
An organization which makes such a compromise has been compromising the Truth in other areas for quite a while. This is the just the fruit of compromise.
Sickness and evil are taking over.
ANYthing with the word "world" in it translates to "Satanic" ...
imo, of course.
Satan and his helpers are VERY ACTIVE......there is NOTHING he won’t do when he sees WEAKNESS in a Christian!!
Just another cave to the queer agenda, no matter how you sugar-coat it.
They no doubt depend on large corporate donors for a good part of their funding. They no doubt received the same type of threats that were directed at the Boy scouts. The organization will eventually wither.
This will be used against us. “You see how Christianity and homosexuality flower together?”
Count on it.
"For God so love the world...."
I know this is a different term applied, but be careful with blanket statements.
Thanks for posting. I’ve always admired the work they do, but now I will move on to supporting Christian ministries. This is sad.
Barack Obama: I am a Christian.
So, I have a deep faith. So, I draw from the Christian faith.
On the other hand, I was born in Hawaii where obviously there are a lot of Eastern influences.
I lived in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, between the ages of six and 10.
My father was from Kenya, and although he was probably most accurately labeled an agnostic, his father was Muslim.
And Id say, probably, intellectually Ive drawn as much from Judaism as any other faith.
So, Im rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people. That there are values that transcend race or culture, that move us forward, and theres an obligation for all of us individually as well as collectively to take responsibility to make those values lived.
And so, part of my project in life was probably to spend the first 40 years of my life figuring out what I did believe Im 42 now and its not that I had it all completely worked out, but Im spending a lot of time now trying to apply what I believe and trying to live up to those values.
Just one more reason to never, I repeat never, give anything to any organization that you do not research. Outside St. Jude hospital my giving is all done to local organizations with 50 miles of my house.
That includes, Goodwill, Unicef, March of Dimes, Girl Scouts, et, al...
You want to get angry, look up how much the CEO of Goodwill makes and what kind of company car they drive.
Just like a tall midget or dry water, there is no such thing, the two are mutually exclusive.
Yep ... thanx

In case any other supporter would like to express a belief or action to World Vision.
What has happened is a subversion of the truth and World Vision has been assimilated into the lie. They no longer agree that sin is sin. Its one thing to agree that people struggle with Same Sex attraction but NOT PRACTICE the SIN of homosexuality....its another thing altogether to allow someone to OPENLY RACTICE a sin and NOT call it what it is.
They have sold their soul.
The original intent is doubtless “world” in the sense of John chapter 3 verses 16ff “For God so loved the WORLD that...”
But it’s a linguistic slip from that to being invested in the ways of the “world.” I can see the temptation. What concerned Christians (and the Lord) are grieved at is making it policy.
This isn’t unrecoverable. Christians need to be bolder than to cower in “duck and cover” mode as if some unrecoverable curse had struck. Do we or do we NOT believe in an all sufficient Cross? This will separate the men from the boys, and it’s only some of the boys who want to go along with this move. Others will want to saw World Vision off.
Give to your mission Board ... if you don't have one ...
Give to mine.
In the 60's I heard about people volunteering to go to India to teach how to make better, more indestructable houses and dig wells and such and that it had been some ten years now and the entire project was a failure because foreign people don't want foreign ways ... they want food and money.
Politicians steal both and nothing happens.
So let's teach them to go to heaven .... they'll understand later ... God's Promise !
But yet they won’t hire a man and woman living together? It would have been a lot better if they made a blanket statement that thy have no official hiring policies, but instead they are making the statement they are against sin, but two men having sex with one another is not sin if they have a government document.
The sad statistics I hear are that faux-marrying tends to worsen promiscuity, failing even at its purported mission of damage control.
A perfect life should not be required; it’s impossible this side of the gates of glory. A serious purpose to leave all known sin is very reasonable to ask.
