Politicians are just like 3rd graders playing Jeopardy!: every once in a while, they get one right.

Excellent. The GOP should have abolished the Dept of Education long since. The Feds have no business meddling in our schools and wasting our money.

We are still waiting for a public statement against Common Core from our Wisconsin Governor, Scott Walker. Unfortunately, nothing will be done until after the 2014 elections.

Just show him the video with the 32 minus 12 question that ought to make him take a stand against it.

“Gov. Mike Pence signed legislation today requiring the state to come up with its own academic standards....”

Any form of government mandated “acadmic standards” regarding the content of the academic curriculum denies students, parents, and teachers the 1st Amendment right to free speech and freedom of association. Academic standards are the responsibility of individuals, families, and their local communities; and such academic standards can be established in the private marketplace where voluntary adoption of the standards obviates any need for government interference or government indoctrination.

He knows all of that-but seems to be waiting until the end of 2014 now, and allowing it to get more and more entrenched into our kids’ schools.

“”making Indiana the latest state to pull its support for the national education standards known as Common Core.””

To my knowledge, it is the ONLY state to do away with it. AZ and GA have legislation pending but without a governor’s signature to date....

HOORAY for Indiana!

On or before June 12, 2018 Maine will vote to secede from the Union. At the same time voters will be voting to accept the Constitution of the Republic of Maine.

This is a section of the Constitution of the Republic of Maine, which will go into effect at midnight June 13, 2018.

Section 7. Education. All education is left to the local community, to the parents first and foremost and then to the city, town or community in which the family resides. The counties and the Republic are explicitly denied any role in a child’s education with the exception of Militia members while on duty and prisoners while in the care of the county jail or prison of the Republic. The first and foremost responsibility to teach a child Religion, obedience, patriotism, loyalty, righteousness, and to be a productive member of society rest squarely upon the shoulders of the parent(s), the local communities role is to support and reinforce that parental responsibility.

"Putin’s fault."

We started way before Putin.

Back in 1985 a group of five men sat down and decided to do something about the abuses of power by the Maine State government and the police chiefs of Portland, Biddeford, Windham, Bangor and Augusta concerning the issuing of license to carry concealed weapons. Two years later Mainers who voted, voted overwhelmingly to change the wording of Article one section 16 to read “Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned.” One of the goals of this change was to allow concealed carry with no license required, as is done in Vermont. Folks, how you feel about guns is not the issue. The issue is, does the wording of Article One Section sixteen allow Maine’s Legislature to question and or put limitations on a citizen’s right to bear arms? And if not, are those who do committing perjury?

Folks, if politicians and others who take an oath to support and uphold the Constitution of Maine were held accountable for their votes, there would be no need for two of the other items that came out of that meeting back in 1985, the Maine State Militia and the Maine secession from the Union movement. Two of the greatest documents ever to ensure the freedom of a people are The US Constitution and the Maine State Constitution. Neither are worth the paper they are written on if those who swear to uphold them ignore and in some cases, defecate all over them and cannot be held legally responsible for their actions.

Five me, 1985.
