Four supporters of Gov. Tom Corbett's re-election campaign today filed a challenge to keep GOP nomination rival Bob Guzzardi off the May 20 primary ballot.
Although Guzzardi, a Montgomery County tea party Republican, is running a long shot campaign to usurp the incumbent Corbett, he has been a constant thorn in the governor's side.
Guzzardi has most consistently argued that-contrary to the governor's campaign theme of "Promises Kept"-Corbett has reneged on his no tax pledge.
"It seems unlikely that those voters will humiliate themselves and vote again for someone who so cynically violated the promises not to raise taxes and not to raise fees that he so disingenuously (sic) made in 2010," Guzzardi said in a news release earlier this month. "Marcellus Shale Impact Tax/Fee and $2.4 billion gas, fuel and fee and tax increase are incontrovertible substantial violations of his promise."
In an email late Tuesday, he said the challenge was proof that he was unsettling Corbett and the state GOP establishment.
"The Republican machine sees me as a threat," he wrote. "This gives me credibility as a candidate."......

Bob Guzzardi is challenging the incumbent GOP governor of this state, Tom Corbett, who broke his promise with tax and fee hikes led by a 28 cent a gallon gas tax increase.
They want to throw Guzzardi off the ballot and if they succeed, I Guzzardi becomes a write-in like Scott Wagner did in the Senate election and beats Corbett and the Republican Machine again.
Corbett is toast. Everyone knows it. He showed promise and turned out to be nothing more than a goofball.
Bob Guzzardi is a good man.
A statewide write-in campaign is a heck of a mountain to climb.
Let’s hope he wins the ballot challenge.
York, PA Tea Party write-in winner, Scott Wagner, ran ---and won---on a typical Tea Party small-government/fiscal conservativism ticket. Wagner attributed his win in great part to the relentlessly negative attacks on him by the local and state GOP party establishments.
Looks to me like York voters think for themselves---that's what living under demonic Democratic rule will do to a person.

Jolly's ad cautioned voters that the district needed a rep who will defend THEIR interests---NOT those of Obama.
HELPFUL HINT The Jolly race also maximized voter turnout by exploiting the dismal fact that Nancy Pelosi might get back in power if they didn't vote.
He needs an easier to spell name if he wants to win as a write-in.
Corbett’s people talk about his “unanimous endorsement” when the state committee met earlier this year. There was some grumbling in the room over the stage managed event because the conservatives on the state committee sure weren’t allowed to object.
Frankly, the news story said that meeting was in Pennsylvania, but I think they were meeting in Jonestown, Guyana so to speak.
Corbett’s numbers are as bad as Santorum’s were in 2006.
Guzzardi would probably do better against the Dem in the fall than Corbett will.

Corbett is down by double digits with high negatives fueled by the gasoline tax and the Sandusky case with Penn State-Joe Paterno fans emotionally blaming the governor for the consequences of the case that hurt the coach and the football program.
I actually think Guzzardi could cut the margin of Corbett’s inevitable loss down from 15-20 percent to 5-10 percent in the fall.
Well, The main dem is someone called Wolfe. He was a good under Rendell and he will tax the living crap out of anything that even looks like it will make a profit.
I don’t agree with giving tax breaks to companies. All should share the burden. But at the same time don’t want them punished because they make money and employ people.
If we don’t get rid of Corbett in the primary then we will have the Democratic Governor in January 2015. We must get rid of Corbett. I can’t think of one person who thinks he has done a good job and I know a ton of people in Pennsylvania.

In Ny state, perhaps to recover from their ‘no fracking’ rules they are offering businesses 10 YRS of no taxes to attract them to the state.Guess they figure jobs, salaries, spinoff business is worth the move?
They’ve done this before-—it’s how they knocked the Constitution Party off the ballot in 2012, by adopting Chicago Rat tactics.

The Scott Wagner story this week with a write-in hitting 48 percent and winning a three way race points us to a way around their game, but it does take money and volunteers to reach its full potential.

If he could do away with state stores and allow 6 packs to be sold at a 7-11 it might go a long way.
One of the reforms that Corbett and the Republicans controlling the legislature should have delivered on, but haven’t because of union power over many supposed “Republicans”.
Scott Wagner talked a lot about pensions in the campaign for State Senate and their reform should be happening with the lawmakers giving theirs up to begin with.
