Seriously, I don’t think we can blame Obama for this one.

Personally, I think we may have taken a wrong turn when we began seeing addictions as “illnesses” , de-emphasizing the moral and spiritual component. It’s something that’s never made sense to me, unless you are in the public or private rehab or social work biz, then it makes sense. But does it help people?

You make good points. Drugs ebb and flow. Right now downtown Everett is blessed with both heroin and meth. People steal anything not nailed down, there’s an epidemic of food stamp fraud tied in with drugs and every third or fourth building downtown is vacant. That isn’t all because of drugs, but drugs don’t help.

You’re right. I used to live a few blocks from where Layne Staley died, in a scenario pretty much identical to Philip Seymour Hoffman. The block containing the Jack in the Box where Kurt Cobain was rumored to have scored his heroin has been razed to build a light rail tunnel.

Abortion missed many minorities and this is how they’re fixing it.

A light rail station, I should have said.

Every third or fourth COMMERCIAL building, I should have said. But residential real estate isn’t doing so hot either.

Hard to believe heroin is so cheap now. Back in the ‘60s & ‘70s it was much harder to get a hold of and expensive. The easy stuff to get back then was pot, pills (speed and downers), and acid.

If illegal drugs did not exist in the States, the U.S. would be a less-violent nation for sure. And a lot more normal. Too bad it’s beyond that nowadays.

Yes it would; securing the border won’t change things since after all, it could be grown up here in various sheds and garages. Until we start being more ruthless, we won’t see change.

Washington county has had a lot of Smack ODs.
This stuff that’s floating around is powerful and deadly.
