DRUDGE READERS SURPRISE GOP ELITE FOR PREZ

Become latest to defy D.C. establishment in sizzling new poll

Drew Zahn

When it comes to picking a presidential candidate for 2016, the GOP elite is having a hard time getting the grassroots to toe the establishment line.

Top Republican strategist Karl Rove, for example, has repeatedly praised Chris Christie, the Republican governor of New Jersey, as “a strong potential candidate in 2016,” whom Democrats fear will win the nomination.

And when other names gained popular attention, particularly attention among the so-called tea-party crowd, the man known as the “architect” was quick to criticize.

Rove, for example, blasted potential presidential hopeful Ted Cruz for not playing ball with the GOP establishment, just as the Texas senator’s name started to gain traction with Republican voters.

Rove similarly opened fire on Sen. Rand Paul, R-Tenn., for talking about Monica Lewinsky and potential Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the same breath.

And even if Christie has fallen from favor among the establishment, other GOP insiders have floated names like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, former vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and even the return of former presidential candidate and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as possible nominees in 2016.

But now a poll on one of the Internet’s top websites, the Drudge Report, reveals the ground troops just aren’t buying it.

With over 234,000 votes counted, Rove’s “strong potential candidate,” Christie, was garnering less than five percent of the vote. Bush had just over six percent. Ryan had less than four.

But despite fiery criticism from the GOP establishment, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was registering over 28 percent in the Drudge Report poll, while Tennessee Sen. Rand Paul was leading the survey, with over 30 percent. Paul’s 72,297 votes compared impressively to Christie’s 11,437.

Who turns to calling people names and insults, when confronted, Conservatives, or LIBERALS.. I simply asked a question, and you did the predictable tactic.. No my FRiend, that game doesn’t work on FR.. Your curtain is falling.. You did it to yourself, and couldn’t help it, it’s the kneejerk reaction.. BUSTED.. LOL

You must be NSA. Or Sherlock Holmes. Who else could have uncovered my hideous plot to infiltrate the right wing, repeat solid conservative values over literally thousands of posts, support conservative candidates and help steer people away from RINO sycophants with unverified stories of great accomplishment.

You got me. I confess. I am....a conservative.

There. Now the world knows.

If you aren’t a phoney, or worse, and now I’m still betting worse, what is your plan if one of your choices doesn’t make it on the ballot..

You have been shooting your mouth off and insulting everyone that doesn’t follow your disruptive orders, on every thread you post, about all the rinos, and how no one should vote for anyone that doesn’t fit your mold, or WHAT?

If you don’t understand, having a PLAN.. Whats your suggestion? We are all still waiting..

How many times are we going round this maypole?

I told you exactly what I am going to do. Vote my beliefs. Which are in line with Palin and Cruz. Which is the one plan that aligns with the Founders instructions. A friend of Newt should know that. Since he wrote books about it. If they do not run and no one of their caliber runs, I will write one in. Me if needed. But unlike you, I will NEVER sit home and pout.

Nor will I make wild claims with no way to verify them. Now when are you going to address all my prior points? I gave in and reached across your aisle. Your turn.

As the guy who started this thread I believe I have an obligation to FR to monitor it to some degree. Having said that, I have a comment and a question:

Norm, you really should do some digging before you start popping off at people you don’t know.

If he is who he says he is, you might ask why he has posted the things he has.

Your beef is with me, leave my FRiends out of it.. There is no need, at least on my side, to bring others into this, just answer the question, and I will go away, I promise.. This shouldn’t be a fire fight, just answer the simple question..

I’ll try again, S L O W E R, you claim that anyone that votes for someone other than your narrow list of candidates, is a Rino, or a member of Democrat Underground, as you have accused me.. If your choice doesn’t make it through the primaries, and on the Ballot, whats your plan after that..

I am recovering from serious surgeries, and illnesses, so I haven’t the energy to do much more than try to do whatever I can to leave this world a better place, than what it is today.. If you don’t agree with me, I understand and I respect it..

I told you I was so pissed that I didn’t vote for McCain, or Romney, I left it blank.. I regret not voting for Romney, even though I would have hated it, he couldn’t have been worse than what we have..

Having said that, my efforts are going to those on the list in the primaries that I prefer. Cruz, Palin (if she runs, I hope), Walker, and maybe Perry.. However, I will, reluctantly at best, vote for whomever makes the top..

I have nothing to hide, the real question is who are you Norm Lenhart..? Maybe the answer will be forthcoming, we’ll see..

To start with, Carlo, Norm Lenhart is his real name. You can search him on Google and find links to the life history he's shared with us Freepers for years and years.

He's also only one of a handful of Freepers I know of who doesn't use a nom de plume. I think that says a lot about a person's character. I can't even say as much for myself.

And given that he's been a member here since '98, I think it's a stretch to imply that he has other fish to fry. Even a cursory reading of his posting history will reveal that he's as staunch a conservative as any of us.

Anywho... longtime Freeps get into these sorts of squabbles from time to time. How 'bout just answering his questions and debating him straight up? Y'all might even wind up shaking hands when the dust settles.

Your friend addressed me directly. I answered. Is that a problem?

I believe you are also recovering from a pretty recent Zot in which you doubled down on stupid with JR. I hope your health improves and I hope your disposition improves.

And MY efforts are going to stop people from repeating their mistakes. My narrow list includes the very people the site supports.

You claim you are a Palin and Cruz supporter. Good. We agree. I do not agree that electing the very RINOs that thwart Cruz and trash Palin is a good idea. You want to dispute that logic? Have at it.

You don’t vote cuz you had a mad? Thats your right. Do not then come and talk to me about who and what to vote for.
