Telling someone he can’t wait to kick his door in is ok with you?
Seriously?
Perhaps because he has clearly announced his enthusiasm to go gunning for citizens?
It’s OK for him to go home safe tonite, and go out looking for a new job tomorrow, in a field where his moronic mouth won’t come across as a threat.
The cop’s a jerk, outed by being a blowhard, and needs to work at the land fill.
“mon back” is all he will need to say.
“The officer is not the one who passed the law, and he stated he would wait for orders. Thus far, he has done nothing illegal. So again, why is it not ok for him to go home safe? “
While I would agree that he hasn’t DONE anything overtly illegal (and he should continue to go home safe), he has made an inflammatory statement that was completely foolish and I will bet not in accordance with his department’s policy (as opposed to what most of them may think). And at the minimum, the comment is a veiled threat to harm a citizen. You can bet if a citizen said he couldn’t wait to “kick in the front door of the PD,” you’d be arrested and all of your weapons taken. In order to defuse the situation, the chief of his department should issue a public reprimand to the officer and make it very clear that these kinds of public statements cannot be made. Since this whole misguided law is “supposed” to be there to “reduce” the chance for gun violence, it would seem to me that this kind of public “pronouncement” needs to be avoided. But the fact that is was made, is indicative of how some in law enforcement see their job.
Correct.
Nothing illegal.
Immoral, absolutely. But not illegal.
In Communist China, it was legal to beat, torture, and imprison those who objected to communism. In North Korea, it was legal to torture in hideous ways, anyone who said ANYthing untoward about Kim Il Jun. In Soviet Russia, making any profit whatsoever was illegal, and it was legal to imprison 'profiteers' in the Gulag for decades.
So yes, your CT cop has done NOTHING illegal.
Make a choice.
The orders would be illegal clueless.
Many of us don't care if storm troopers make it home safe. This officer has self-identified as one.
