Most probably catastrophic failure of the aircraft, either due to malfunction (not likely) or induced.
My own opinion at this point is that it was induced and probably terrorism.
But we shall have to wait and see what the black box teels them.
The will find debris out there soon.
And the speculation/ guessing becomes part of our culture ... did this, or that or who made this happen. Conspiracy’s will abound.
Could be a mechanical problem, after all, they do happen.
Of course a simple mechanical problem would not feed controversy.
I, for one, will wait and see what the official pronouncement comes of the official investigation.
If it is an Islamic thing, I’m sure someone or some group will claim responsibility soon, otherwise I will wait before making judgment.
Or maybe it was accidently shot down. There’s been a lot of tension in that area with China, Vietnam, PI, over territorial waters.
This flight did originate out of a country with the largest population of Muslims in the world.
I worked for many years in that area, surveying for gas exploration and cable installations. If indeed she did go down there, the salvage should go easy, as the sea there is rarely more than 50 metres deep.
However, in the case of a catastrophic disintegration, the debris field would be huge.
I agree with you. I hope we get the full story, and for some reason, my mind keeps turning back to the story of TWA800.
catastrophic failure?
Yeah, caused by a muzzy bomb...I’d bet.
Every year at least one commercial airline flight crashes. That’s still an enviable safety record.
I would not rule out weather yet. While not the most likely cause of airframe failure, weather can kill a jet liner. Just the other day an airliner encounter clear weather turbulence that injured several passengers. The pilot on yesterday’s flight had 18,000+ hours so he was very good. But perhaps, like the doomed Air France plane, the copilot was in control while the pilot was elsewhere taking a break when bad weather struck.
What is your basis for saying it’s probably terrorism? Based on absolutely zero evidence? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. But providing an opinion that it is based on no evidence at all is foolish.
I’m more inclined to think catastrophic mechanical failure and crew reaction. Rudder hard over, uncommanded flap deployment or something like that..
