I was disappointed, I guess. I expected something a little more exciting. There were good parts of it and I didn’t hate it, It just seemed to be missing something.

That could be that there was a lack of development of the characters so that we could empathize with them.

Like when Clooney let go and floated off? I was like, oh well. LOL

I apologize, but some way or another I haven’t seen a single one of the winnahs or the nominators, and I know some of the “conservatives” on this forum have bragged to have seen every one of them - Hurray for them and their boycott of Hollywood - anyway, I have one question regarding the “amazing”, “incredible” winner and it’s: is slavery bad?

I honestly thought that the Spike Jonze who won was the other one. The black guy. The racist.

I didn’t even realize the Oscars were on last night, until a good way into them. My wife and I had been watching the DVD of “Gravity.” We liked it, and I thought Sandra Bullock’s performance was Oscar-worthy, but one thing early on bugged me, and kept me from liking the rest of it more.

SPOILER ALERT

The whole time when the immediate danger is her running out of oxygen in her suit, Clooney keeps chatting her up and encouraging her to engage him in conversation instead of being quiet and conserving her supply.

Lone Survivor did come out in 2013-—was nominated for a couple of sound awards.

A film is shot on film. Everything else today is a photoshopped video.

The editing is totally different. The consideration when they frame a shot is different. And on set, the cast knows that it is more expensive if they don’t get it right in a reasonable number of takes.

A movie isn’t “epic” because it runs 3 hours. The tale ITSELF must be epic in scope and told in a manner that has an arc.

Hollywood. Where even famous celebrities now have their names “rebooted” by unrelated folks...

Spike Jones
Steve McQueen

The new John Wayne will probably be a tranny.

Quick question: Since we’ve now obliterated any differences between the sexes, why do they still have “best actor” and “actress” categories?

I thought such terms were bigoted?

Has anyone watched Gravity? I don’t know whether or not the film and/or the actors won any Oscars, but that movies hype was greatly exaggerated.

Over-hyped, yes. It was pretty good eye-candy is all.

I also like a good dose of plausibility in a movie, and this one had virtually NONE. I heard an astronaut interviewed after the movie was out a couple of weeks, and he said just about everything that happen was a fairy tale - literally impossible to occur in reality.

Hollywood intellectuals no longer refer to women as “actresses”. You WILL see them noted in articles as “ACTORS”.

Gravity sure got a lot of hype.

David Bowie made the same film in 1969 with stellar effects and nobody remembers today.

At least I got to see Gravity at a new drive-in in my city. Pretty cool.

All of these Oscar entertainment threads and not one entertainment thread or Yahoo story about a sealed copy of the Shaggs’ 1969 debut album bringing $5,000 at auction.

Rockaroll Hall of Fame nom and Oscar worthy biopic/documentary can’t be far behind!
