Meet U.S. Senate Hopeful Chris Mapp, Who Thinks "Wetbacks" Should Be Shot on Sight
Dallas Observer ^ | 2/17/14 | Eric Nicholson

You probably haven't heard of Chris Mapp, a South Texas boat salesman and one of the six also-rans challenging John Cornyn in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, and here's hoping you never have occasion to hear of him again after March 4.

If you do, chances are disconcertingly high that it will somehow involve a smoking rifle and a dead Mexican. That would at least be in line with what he told the center-right editorial board of The Dallas Morning News, the most influential newspaper in the state:

South Texas businessman Chris Mapp, 53, told this editorial board that ranchers should be allowed to shoot on sight anyone illegally crossing the border on to their land, referred to such people as "wetbacks," and called the president a "socialist son of a bitch." Mapp elaborates on the topic on his campaign website.

"Let's face it," he writes, "there would be a lot less concrete, roofs, and landscaping without illegal immigrants (yes, illegal immigrants - that is what they are)."

But Mapp isn't anti-immigrant per se. "It is important to accept new citizens but it is important to know: who they are, their background, and that they will contribute in a positive way to be good citizens."

And who are these "good citizens"? Glad you asked.

The term good citizen means earning your own way, paying taxes, No entitlements, No food stamps, NO FREE HEATH CARE, NO HAVING NUMEROUS NEW BORNS TO COLLECT MORE WELFARE, no free housing, no obama phones, and no right to vote for the first three years. They must be willing to pledge allegiance to this country, speak English and have a job which has taxes deducted like anyone else. NO SPECIAL TREATMENT. A tax return, even if no funds are owed, must be filed in order

Cornyn’s poll numbers have dropped from 65% last Friday to around 50% today since Mapp’s statement. Cornyn could be forced into a runoff because of Mapp and this is great news for Texas. Bad news for the pantywaist GOP-e party overlords and their lackeys.

Well, here's another plan for border security:
If no additional illegals come into the country, that would stop the flow, which is the real problem.

Wikipedia on the US/Mexico border:

The border's total length is 1,954 mi, according to figures given by the International Boundary and Water Commission. It is the most frequently crossed international border in the world, with approximately 350 million legal crossings being made annually.
[…]
There are an estimated half a million illegal entries into the United States each year.

Wikipedia on the Paladin:

Crew:                     6
Effective firing range:  11 mi
Operational range:      216 mi
So to cover the border we'd need 1,954 / 22 ≈ 89 Paladins… but that's an under-count because that would entail butting them directly on the border. We would actually want them back a bit.
c² = b² + a²
11²  = 5.5² + a²
121 = 30.25 + a²
90.75 = a²
9.5 ≈ a
So, we could put them 5.5 mi away from the border, allowing them to cover 19 mi of border; this would mean that we'd need 1,954 / 19 ≈ 103 paladins [103 * 6 = 618 men].
Or, we could put them 9.5 mi away from the border, allowing them to cover 11 mi of border; this would mean that we'd need 1,954 / 11 ≈ 178 paladins [178 * 6 = 1,068 men].
(Of course we'd need logistics to support them: meals, munitions, mail, etc.)

See, securing the border is not as hard as they make it out to be.

You might make the point that it would be unjust or immoral, but if you say that we cannot then you argue against the power/authority to seal our borders — something that should be laughed away by any sane reading of Art IV, Sec 4.

Moreover, we can force the issue via the states — the major problem here is getting a gov with stones.

I’d back ‘em up to 12 miles from the border. No point in risking a stray round landing in a foreign country...

Using Rocket Assisted Projectiles, you can push the effective range to 19 miles. Orrrrrr, you could use the MQ-9 Reaper (which we have 104 or thereabouts) which can carry (according to Wikipedia): Up to 4 AGM-114 Hellfire air to ground missiles can be carried or four Hellfire missiles and two 500 lb (230 kg) GBU-12 Paveway II laser-guided bombs. and can see you from 30K+ ft altitude. Reduces the number of personnel needed and is probably cheaper (personnel eat on base or home). Just a thought.

Don't know about "shooting", but that last paragraph sounds excellent to me...

I met him, Stovall and Areas or at their debate several days ago. They were all saying the right things, but Mapp did seem a bit unfiltered. Stovall got my vote. Cornyn and Stockman were no-shows.

Also, I got a strange pseudo-newspaper from Stockman in the mail today, filled with anti-Cornyn "articles."

Paladins are pretty damn accurate. (I was in a FA unit with them.) and you could also have a quarter-mile "buffer"/grace-zone.

The blast-radius kill-zone of a 155mm HE round is 50m (≈164.042ft) 1/8mi is 660ft… so 660ft - 165ft = 495ft — plenty of space, and that's with a mere 1/8mi buffer.

Posting bounties on illegals would solve the problem. Maybe $1000 for bringing in a live one. Whether said bounty should be dead or alive is the question. ;-P

How does the GOP attract such whack jobs?

The Left has their wackos too but they are ELECTED to high office and their wacko ideas CELEBRATED as they become adopted as policy.

Gay "marriage", anyone?

Open borders,anyone?

Climate change, Obamacare, abortion, etc, etc....

Sounds like a plant from the Left.

Lets just say I would not shed any tears if Mapp’s idea had worked for the ones living next door to us.

I agree 100%!!!

As an added measure there should be a stripe of land mines 100’ inside the border!

Actually this is what Eisenhower had troops do in the 1950s and voila, more than 3 million illegals high-tailed it back across the border.

The big difference was Operation Wetback had the cooperation of the Mexican government. And now that Mexico enters demographic transition that may happen again.

“Maybe $1000 for bringing in a live one”

Make that $10 for a live one and $1,000 for a dead one.

Live ones cost more thaan $1,000 to deport.
