Senate Republican Leader Predicts No Immigration Reform In 2014 (McConnell, Cornyn cloture voters)

One of the highest ranking Republicans in Congress joined the chorus of pessimism about the likelihood of an immigration reform bill passing any time this year.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, said on Tuesday that the chances are remote for an agreement between the U.S. Senate, where Democrats hold a majority, and the House of Representatives, where the GOP holds say, happening in 2014 on the highly charged issue of immigration.

Fellow Senate Republican, Whip John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, echoed the sentiment that many Republicans will not come around to supporting a sweeping reform measure.

“I think the problem isn’t so much the principles, it’s how legislation actually gets passed an we find consensus and that’s the challenge,” he said.

The same Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn who voted for Cloture on the Senate Amnesty bill in order to allow it to pass?

Yeah, Mitch has seen his poll numbers so he’s trying to be conservative again...but only till May, and then to November. Then we can have immigration reform again.

That’s what I have always thought,

Just as he says above, they would have to pass a bill that both parties agree on.

When House leadership promised no bill without majority house GOP votes, that sealed its fate.

But what about that immigration expert who Bohner hired? Her job is to make excuses for not passing one?

That cloture vote IS going to cost Cornyn. He still has a very good chance in the primary, IMHO, but he’s lost my vote in the primary. I’m looking closely at Stockman.

Immigration is a counter-productive distraction, designed to keep our attention away from our trade deficit.

America needs to make things. Right here.

We currently run a $300 billion / year trade deficit with China.

And it is growing.

Buy American. And hire Americans, to do the job.

Stand up for America, Republicans.

The vote was 68-32. Fourteen Republicans crossed the aisle to vote with all Democrats in favor.

Republicans, shellacked by Mitt Romney’s 44-point loss among Latinos in the 2012 presidential election, almost immediately coalesced behind immigration reform as a top priority. The Gang of Eight got together last fall and recruited veterans of the 2007 immigration battle such as Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), long-time champions of reform such as Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and high-wattage Senate newcomers, like Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)

This commentary is from Politico but it's right on target!

You don't see The RNC or Republican Leadership targeting its Conservative Base as a top priority!

Just the opposite, T.E.A. Party Conservatives are belittled and ridiculed, called names like "Wacho Bird" by the Republican Elite.

Stockman is my congressman. Frankly, he's kinda a lose cannon. I like him as a congressman, but fear him as Senator. I will be voting for him as a Senator, however, because I want a change and promised Cornyn he would be out if he voted for cloture. His office assured me he was against Obamacare but voting for cloture was NOT a vote for Obamacare. The top of my head blew off and I was screaming on the phone. I assured him I wasn't that stupid. I told him he had better go to school on Cruz and BACK him publicly or he would be out in Nov.

Since then he is already bathing the air with adds here in Texas. Stockman won't have Cornyn money, but he has the Blogs. Stockamn was a big influence waay back when Clinton was abusing women and lying under oath. He was big on the Waco investigation. He doesn't seem to back down to RINO's. He was eventually labeled a kook and I think gerrymandered out of office. I was happy to vote for him again when I got the chance, but am nervous about him being a Senator. I would rather have a loose cannon than a predictable RINO.

Frankly, I will be interested in what Palin and Tea Party people back. She gave us Cruz and I think she will be carefull who she puts her name on. If Stockman doesn't get lavish backing before the Primary, I will be nervous.

....what about that "immigration expert" Bohner hired?.....

Hmmmmm.....are we sure the "immig/expert" is actually on Bohner's govt payroll (easy to find out)? Remember that conniving Ana Navarro was billed on broadcast TV as a "McCain employee" --- later diasavowed by McC who said "we're friends."

=================================================

The name of the "amnesty experts" game is to discredit and demean patriotic Americans.

(a) patriots "KNOW" that Third Worlders like Navarro want amnesty b/c Navarro, and her ilk, despise America; her remarks show she loathes Americans.

(b) patriots "KNOW" that amnesty is a diabolical Third World plan to undermine US national security.

==========================================

REFERENCE Quoting Miguel Perez of Cal State-Northridge’s MEChA chapter: “The ultimate MECha ideolog/y is the liberation of Aztlan (taking back the SW). Communism would be closest [to it]. Once Aztlan is established, ethnic cleansing (of Americans) would commence: Non-Chicanos (Americans) would have to be expelled — opposition groups (that's us) would be quashed because latinos have to keep power (over the gringos they loathe).”

==============================================

LOCKSTEPPING DEMS SUCK-UP AT THE LATINO TEAT The not so well-hidden amnesty agenda seems to have specific goals:

<><> (1) undermining US ntl security,

<><> (2) aiding and abetting crimes against Americans,

<><> (3) financing Third World political goals w/ US tax dollars,

<><> (4) suppressing dissent.

Heavens to Berchtesgarden.....IS A THIRD WORLD "PUTSCH" IN THE OFFING?

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT---a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l rant---hits all the relevant points--and then some.

========================================

FR POSTED BY WOLFPAT..... illegal immigrants are NOT here to become citizens. Many are here to earn what they can in 5 or more years, and then return home and live like kings for the rest of their lives.

The only way citizenship would be a concern to them is if citizenship were made a condition for getting freebies----food stamps, Section 8 housing, health care, etc.

Illegals are NOT law abiding people, and they are NOT like the people who actually stood in line to get their “Green Card” so they could be here legally. Those WITH “Green Cards” are EXACTLY the kind of people we need here. Immigration reform should, for now, be a discussion on how these people can more easily obtain citizenship.

The illegal immigrants have a job here ONLY because they are illegal, and can be exploited outside the law. If they were made legal in some giant amnesty plan, then their value as workers goes to zero, and they’ll all end up on the public dole, while a new batch of illegals are imported.

The rest of the discussions on immigration should center on those who are employing people who are here illegally. Personally, I would confiscate all of the belongings of these employers, and throw them and their families in the street. This would dampen the demand for illegal labor. I’m sorry their home country is a craphole. But it is not our fault, and we shouldn’t pay for it. /rant

Don't be fooled. Why would Zuckerberg launch his media blitz just a few days ago? The ads are playing on TV and radio now.

Boehner, Undeterred, Moves Forward on Immigration

"However, since the GOP retreat last week, Boehner has just kept marching along.

“I think leadership's focus and my focus is to get [immigration] done as early as possible,” said Rep. Jeff Denham of California, who Boehner recently met with on the issue.

“It's part of our conference agenda right now. It doesn't go on the agenda without scheduling bills and scheduling time on the floor,” Denham added.

“Clearly, the draft principles we outlined, members seemed to be supportive of them,” Boehner said at a press conference Tuesday morning in response to a question from Breitbart News, adding, “no decisions have been made” on whether to move forward.

“I wouldn't be surprised” if immigration legislation came to the House floor as early as this spring, one well-connected GOP member said.

Mark Zuckerberg Affiliated Group Blast Airwaves to Back House GOP on Immigration The $750,000 worth of television ads say "House Republicans want to fix the immigration problem."

Chuck Schumer, Paul Ryan talking on immigration

And Cantor still intends to introduce his "Kids bill," the GOP version of the Dream Act.

Did he post a conditional word like ‘most’ or ‘many’ ?

Because we know that's not true in many cases, like the ones who grew up here graduated from HS and in college now.

They plan on staying here.

RE :”And Cantor still intends to introduce his “Kids bill,” the GOP version of the Dream Act.”

That one is very difficult for anyone in GOP elected to specifically poo-poo verbally. You wont see even Cruz or Lee calling them criminals, let alone the others. Watch for more generalized arguments like "Those borders are not secure"

Also those cases fall outside abut 99% of the generalizations made here about illegals.

America is currently 17 trillion dollars in debt, and we run a $300 billion a year trade deficit just with China, the largest ever I might mention.

We only export $100+ billion to China in a year.

That imbalance increases every year.

We buy $400 billion every year from China.

Our trade deficit with China will likely once again, be an all-time record once again this year.

China is now the world’s largest exporter.

Not America. China.

Palin best hurry, if she wants to have maximum influence- Early voting is Feb 18-28. Stockman does have some concerns, but I feel that a sitting Congressman has more chance than an outsider. Someone here mentioned Dwayne Stoval, and Dwayne appears to have some Tea Party support, so I’m looking there also.
