America is set for the coldest month of the century as weather forecasters predict yet another freezing blast of Arctic air - putting Super Bowl Sunday in jeopardy.

Teams have been warned to stay on high alert for changes to the scheduling of the first Super Bowl to be played in an open-air stadium. Temperatures have already hit record lows, at times making parts of the U.S. colder than the North Pole, and are expected to plunge in the coming days.

Meteorologists are forecasting yet another snow storm for the East Coast, which will arrive on Monday First Super Bowl to be held in open-air stadium set to be hit by freezing cold

Teams on high alert game in New Jersey on February 2 could be postponed

The Midwest will be hit with a blast as well between Friday and Saturday, which may cause dangerous roads and flight cancellations

Yet another storm is expected to follow the storm scheduled for Monday and is set to hit just one or two days before the Super Bowl on February 2

The championship game will be held in East Rutherford, New Jersey where workers shoveled snow all day after Tuesday's unexpected whiteout

I’m thinking of how this bitterly cold winter has hit the people who have to heat their homes as they try to keep from freezing to death and IF, they have enough money to pay for the now expensive fuel which is drastically short supply.

These systems are affecting mostly Blue States....elections have consequences, children.

In fact, depending on where exactly you’re at, this might not even be as cold as 2000-2001. Any website with “weather” in the name is just getting to be just LIES.

It is called Winter. Some winters are colder than others. NJ is always cold in winter....very cold. More southerly states are warmer.

Picking a place to play football in winter, requires some intelligent and logical thinking. Evidently, the NFL lacks that.

Just get that dipstick mayor from New York City to go to the stadium. He puts out enough hot air to warm the place up.

“The temperature at kickoff was a windy 39 degrees Fahrenheit, making this the coldest outdoor Super Bowl to date.”

Super Bowl IV was played at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, outdoors. The chiefs beat the Vikings. It was cool, overcast and slightly drunk. Ed McMahan said New Orleans should be proclaimed Super bowl City and all Super Bowls should be played there. I was there but sober.

I could give a rats arse about the Super Bowl.

So, we’re supposed to feel sorry for these ultra rich, thugs who play a dumb game for a living? Oh wow, three hours in the cold...say it ain’t so!

The [Super Bowl VI] halftime show was a "Salute to Louis Armstrong" featuring jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, actress and singer Carol Channing, trumpeter Al Hirt and the U.S. Marine Corps Drill Team.

That actually sounds pretty good. Maybe they could replay that instead of this year's show.

Been a long, long time since I watched a stoopidbowl half time show. How pathetic that attention whore Janet Jackson flashing half a billion people is all anyone remembers about the SB half time show.

No thanks. Been there while in the military...It's why we stay in CA.

In California, the year round Mediterranean like weather is worth a fortune to us.

Coastal SC may get nearly a foot of snow this coming week. That’ll really screw them up for a day or two.

I live in SoMiss, the low one morning on my back porch was TEN degrees. We’re very red here.

It’s cold everywhere baby!

(Now, if it’ll just freeze CA, then all would be perfect!)

Calling for 70, sunny and mild Pacific breeze today in S. CA.

A bit chilly but we’ll tough it out.

I guess I didn’t really make my point.

The OP stated that blue states were freezing. No, they’re not. When CA gets frozen then I will be happy :)

I’m not getting happy soon am I?

:P

If you don’t already, follow Joe Bastardi on twitter. He’s a hoot and always posts teaser weather maps.

I hear ticket (re) sales are way off. Volume and price.

Nothing would please me more than a bunch of scalpers getting stuck with unsold SB tickets, or having to cut their losses by selling below purchase price.

Oh horror, we’re doomed! It might be too cold on stupid bowl Sunday! There have been plenty of games and many other activities that go on when it is this cold. Why the hype over a pimple on the ass of time sports game. Why don’t they just reschedule hockey playoffs or something else. Ah yes, it’t the fans and the piles of money that aren’t there if the players wimp out on the cold and or the fans decide to watch at home.

I got your point.

We had frost on our car once, but melted when the sun came up. That was about 8 years ago.

BTW, in the book I mentioned. the author makes the argument that the earth had a close encounter with another planet (say mars or Venus or some other)...

"Worlds in Collision" by Immanuel Velikovsky presents evidence of such an encounter, and is an interesting read.

By the way, we will make it a point not to watch the SB when ever it happens...Just got tired of them making trying to make some epic, earth shattering, historic event out of a football game...

I hope to be fresh water fishing...or hiking in the back country or something fun...

Yes, I have that one too. :-)

And you are right. The main difference between the two is one takes an overtly Christian perspective.

BTW, on a side note, It cracks me up that evolutionists were, regarding the earth, the universe, biology, etc., were uniformitarianists while Christians were catastrophists.

Now everyone is a catastrophist. Which side had to change their viewpoint? :-P
