North Korea?.... really....
Current President of Ukraine will not stop against anything He can close borders tightly.. He will do it. Then Kremlin will allow him to experiment with the nuclear weapons There are already Gulags nearby Ukraine It is possible - not in one day
Well, the good news is, you have bedome adept at being a Garrison state.
Sad, didn’t have to happen.
North Korea would be an exaggeration, but an authoritarian Russia for sure.
Russian plan to break up the Ukraine into Western and Eastern part. Because enmity will be enormous they will establish a sort of DMZ (with all of that weaponry). The Eastern part, the better one as some Russian politicians close to Kremlin, are saying will be part of their state. And Western will be part of EU. The international community is facing the biggest threat since the collapse of Berlin Wall.
Crimea is going to be the hot spot.
Jurij Andruchowycz (Yuri Andrukhovych) is a great poet, writer and translator.
(So much for the ignorant assertions found lately on this forum that George Soros is organizing and funding these protests.)
I do not know why there is this disinformation spread about Soros. These young people are rejecting any form of dictatorship
The misinformed and underinformed hosts of different sorts of programs willing to be seen as well-informed are spreading these claims
In fact Ukrainian policemen are being told that protesters are motivated by money. It is a lie. They are patriotic freedom figthers
Mr. Ynaukovych is a loyal ally of Kremlin. Putin pointed at him when his counter-candidate was Mr. Yushchenko. He is Putin’s man in Ukraine...
Ukrainian people are fighting for their freedom It is their be or not to be.
As one of Slavic origin myself (Polish) it always pains me to see Slavic brothers fighting amongst each other like this.
I just hope for a peaceful solution, I don’t hate Russians at all, and Ukrainians have their faults to be sure. But it is becoming more clear that Ukraine as we know it, cannot continue to exist. A split is inevitable.
Perhaps in the end the best solution is a “Velvet Divorce” as happened with the Czechs and Slovaks.
You could be right, it might be split.
Would be tragic for the people of Ukraine, broken families and all.
Good news at least for now, is that despite Russian attempts to pit eastern Ukraine against western, the current conflict is between Yanukovich, backed by police, and protesters from the western and central Ukraine. Population in the eastern Ukraine who used to pull so fervently for him, have been disappointed by his presidency. Today, they are tolerant of him and so you have not seen massive demonstrations in the east proclaiming their love for the leader.
Every year that Ukraine remains one and independent is a victory against Russia.
