Generic Congressional Ballot: Democrats 41%, Republicans 35%
Rasmussen ^ | 1/20/14

Posted on 01/22/2014 8:06:01 AM PST by SoFloFreeper

Democrats have posted their largest lead on the Generic Congressional Ballot since early November, while Republicans have fallen to their lowest level of support in a year.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending January 19 finds that 41% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Democrat in their district’s congressional race if the election were held today, unchanged from the previous week. Thirty-five percent (35%) would choose the Republican instead, down two points from the previous survey.  The Democrats have now led for three weeks in a row....

The national telephone survey of 3,500 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports from January 13-19, 2014. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 2 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Am I correct that many here would not say Republican?

Real Clear Politics has the poll at 42.5 Dem 41.7 GOP.

Less than a point spread.

What this Freeper said and I agree:

Not surprising, really. The GOPe is walking away from the base, and that’s bound to cause the Generic number to sag. It’ll go down a lot farther, and we will lose the House if the leadership doesn’t change their ways. All we can do about it is support our conservative local candidates.

Employment is the country’s problem. Democrats interested but do nothing. GOP ignores with focus on Obamacare, Benghazi, Iran, Syria, rinse, repeat.

Exactly right. The only poll number I care about it the D%, and it’s good news if that stays in the low 40’s.

I would not disagree with your back-of-an-envelope calculations. The numbers are there for everybody to see, so I really don’t understand the logic of the Crybaby Boehners and the Chinless McConnells out there, unless they’re playing to lose. I think they’d like to shake you and me off, even if it means losing.

The GOPe is talking about amnesty, which will supplant Obamacare as the top issue. The Stupid Party demonstrates again why it can’t win elections.

Because the hate for Odumbocare is in a bubble. Also, the roll out has smoothed and not everyone is being hammered by it. It is a terrible law, to be sure, but it is not the end of times that some Conservative pundits claim. And maybe its years of Prosecuting and trying cases speaking, but in order to win, you have to analyze even that which you hate objectively. Conservative pundit railing against Odimwit care is preaching to the choir and it is a small choir. It may feel good, but it is a loser.

You have to think like the other person thinks . . . and that is MOST of America. Most of America doesn’t read what we read and doesn’t care. Nor will they. I’ve said it a few times here that running on ODimwit care is a MAJOR error but one the GOP will make, Will we keep the House? Probably. Will we take the Senate? Too close to call. Are we ultimately screwed? Yep.

Thanks guys. It's no reason for despair, it means that if the GOPE's can ever figure it out, the numbers will be 59% Republican to 41% Democrat.

We just gotta show them the math.

AND they gotta care.

RINO ( Rasmussen in name only ) polls are NOT to be taken seriously. Since they ousted Rasmussen, they have consistently shown barky with a 10 to 15 point higher approval rating than all other polls.

Looks like the Dems know how to be a permanent majority party now. If the GOP had any balls they would fight and try to win the Senate and House, but I think they’re very comfortable being in the minority.

Shows how badly the GOP brand has fallen that an inept, vindictive and mean party with no discernible accomplishments and that has brought shame and disgrace to the country can still kick the GOP’s butts

Rasmussen Rports Owner

See the above. The Polling Methodology and Results might reflect the bias of the current majority share holders of Rasmussen rather than that of Mr. Rasmussen himself who no longer works there.

Maybe somebody brighter than me can track the connections of the principle partners of

http://nosonlawen.com/our-team.html

to determine their political slant.

In the PAST, RCP gave a less favorable rating to the GOP than Rasmussen himself did when he was running it.

If it breaks our way I expect Karl Rove and the GOPe to go scorched-earth and do everything in their power to sabotage us and throw the general election to the Democrats. They'd rather be a junior partner to the Donks than lose on principle to us.

I have a great idea, if I must brag on myself. Let’s pass an *amnesty*,...OOPS, comprehensive immigration bill to convince Democrats that we aren’t so bad! Bob
