Actually, under the German Constitution, Berlin is a city-state, that is, it is both a city and a state at the same time.

SEATTLE CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY

WINTER FESTIVAL

JANUARY 24 THRU FEBRUARY 2

Another piece for Saturday night is a string quartet by Peter Tchaikovsky. His first quartet is a gem, the third is an abomination, and the second has some wonderful moments. This will be the first performance of his second quartet, the String Quartet in F, Op. 22, in Seattle. Note the unusual time signature of the second movement: 7/4. The finale is amazing.

This is a video by the Borodin Quartet, the best that Mother Russia has to offer.

Interesting. I did not know that.

I know they chose Bonn as capitol of West Germany so no one would complain when they moved it back to Berlin.

I was six years old when the Nautilus was launched. I got a toy Nautilus in a cereal box with a little compartment that held baking soda, IIRC. The boat would submerge and surface as the CO/2 was generated.

Rickover was an extremely controversial figure in the Navy. I don't know all the ins and outs of his career, but I thank the Lord for our nuclear submarine program.

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

I came in with a 12 out of 20 but it’s okay. I got a “D” in geography as a kid so nothing has changed much but it was fun!

The word is Capital, unless you are referring to the actual building.

The question should be, “do you know your state capitals,” not “capitols.”

I actually thought capitol was wrong but wasn’t sure enough to change it.

I suspect Dan Quayle knew how to spell potato but with it written there for him as potatoe, he probably thought he was wrong and just read it as written.
