missing the point. 90 per cent of adhd “symptoms” are normal behavior. 10 year old boy fidgets while sitting 8 hours in one place. no friggin kidding.
I may do my thesis on adhd is an excuse to tranquilize a good portion of the white Christian male population.

I never bought into it except, if I ever thought I'd like to get strung out on drugs again, it was an available tactic ..

“I now realize it wasn’t ADHD,” she told him later, pleased with the progress she made as a result. “It was just life.

I know people in my family who have a variety of odd symptoms. Some of them run to the doctor and get steadily worse and worse to the point of near incapacity and others go “whoa, that’s weird” shake it off and get on with it.

The ones who have depended on doctors over the last twenty years are in sad shape. The ones who just got on with it are normal as far as anyone can tell. There are others somewhere in between.

Doctors are great if you get shot or your legs broke or you’re in a car wreck. They know what to do. If there is something weird going on, though, they’re pretty hopeless. They tend to just medicate you and then medicate the side effects and then medicate those combined side effects.

I am not surprised by his findings. As an educator with a background in psychology, I argued much the same thing to my professors.

A boy who was disruptive and inattentive in math class (but no other) was, simply, bored by the material and needed to be advanced a grade to regain his concentration.

This I'm not buyin'. Makes no sense to me as a lifetime math nerd.

Much of our disorder in health is caused by GMO food our bodies have a hard time recognizing odd code.

Find an Amish farmer in your area who kids haven’t sold out

Some like to say it is the vegans against GMO will I am no vegan for I love my meat.

when you start to feel in control of you body by eating the way mother nature put it together you know their is an enemy among us.

The corn they use today is GMO

It is not easy to make the switch but when you feel bad you are reminded there are options out there the left is messing with out foods and some Republicans too maybe they were ignorant at first but it still is out there bad food.

Mis-diagnosis? Sure, possible and not uncommon. But,
don’t try to tell me that ADHD does not exist. Often it exists
along with other afflictions. Many of you are missing the
HD part of ADHD in this discussion. Yes, sometimes medication
is over prescribed for some but for others it helps them to
lead a closer to normal life. I have worked with Severely
Emotionally Distubed youth who are at-risk in a residental
setting for most of the past sixteen years and I know what
I am talking about.

Truth be told, school is such unnatural torture for boys, that they have to drug the kids up to get them to endure it.

And adults are treated the same way.

literally had this conversation with a friend 3 weeks ago. His son is diagnosed and we spoke about the fact neither of us believed that the medical community could be correct diagnosing more and more cases every year.

It's much more likely Central Auditory Processing Disorders compounded by sensory saturation. Primary cause? Childhood allergies especially sinus allergies and childhood chronic ear infections. The condition has likely always existed. But the sensory bombardment hasn't. Some kids with CAPD only have an hour or two concentration daily. Some have as little as a few minutes. Classrooms are set with tables scattered about the room rather than desk in a row thus these kids can not read the teachers lips. Kids with this often read lips faster then they can process them through their auditory system. The suspected kids need to see an Audiologist or Speech Pathologist to be tested for this.

alot of children acting out from dysfunctional family get this diagnosis instead of the entire family getting family therapy.

I am surprised television isn’t mentioned here; a friend who teaches says many children have an attention span as long as a television commercial (as a result of watching constantly). IMHO there is no doubt TV is linked to ADD.

So glad I missed the whole prescription drug craze. I was considered “disruptive” because I was bored out of my mind and needed to joke around as an outlet to keep myself sane.

Call it whatever you want, my son has it. It may be some other known problem that is misdiagnosed, but he has many of the classic signs of ADHD.

First off, he was NOT disruptive in class nor “out of control”.

The symptom that clued us in was when he was reading, he would skip every third or forth word. For example - “For score and seven ago our fa on this continent a new na conceived in to the proposition that all created equal.”

He knew and could pronounce the words individually. But as he was reading them, he would skip over words.

Of course he had the classic signs of being SUPER easily distracted.

You could give him his medication and within about 20 minutes, he could read through the Gettysburg Address without skipping a beat. He could sit down and do his homework with no problems.

Whatever it is, it is real. Don’t let pieces like this fool you.

Some of these ADHD drugs do change the kids personality and that’s not good.

Kids who have “ADHD” now, used to be called brats. A few pops on the bottom was an effective cure.

There used to be a place for everyone in our society.

Now, there is a lot of howling about "diversity", but the hyper kid who got a job delivering groceries or messages, the OCD guy who got the job at the warehouse putting everything in its place, the 'slow' kid who swept the floors at the grocery store, and a host of others have been hammered, medicated, and culturally normed to fit into slots which do not necessarily take advantage of their God-given differences, their talents for things others might not even want to do.

For all the research, all the education, all the alleged knowledge, we possess little wisdom, to the detriment of not only individuals, but our society as well.

The answer to ADHD is the right food, home and schedule structure, two vigilant parents, direct eye contact with parents, and spanking them until they walk like John Wayne.
