New Mayor Bill De Blasio Tells New York City, ‘We Will Not Wait’ on Inequality

Claiming his place as the 109th mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio delivered an inaugural address on Wednesday that focused on the issue of inequality, promising that the attention he gave to the subject when he was running for office was not merely campaign rhetoric.

Outside City Hall, in front of an audience that included members of his family, luminaries like Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton and hundreds of ordinary New Yorkers, Mayor de Blasio spoke of the city’s history of embracing liberal causes, and he laid out a mayoralty that emphasized social and economic justice.

“We are called to put an end to economic and social inequalities that threaten to unravel the city we love,” he said. “And so today, we commit to a new progressive direction in New York. And that same progressive impulse has written our city’s history. It’s in our DNA.”

The American people love financing expensive vacations for those at the top. They say these people need to rest and to prepare for the grueling tasks to come.

It’s kind of interesting.

50 yrs ago there was no “pre-K” was there?
A lot of kids in the midwest didn’t even go to “K”

But somehow us poor kids wound up better educated than a large swath of today’s youts.

Sigh.

The era of the urban hipster has peaked. Many of them will run back to the burbs where they grew up.

What makes them think they can address inequality through confiscation?

Well, I suppose the task of "fundamentally transforming America", ie, destroying it, can be grueling at times.

“New York city would be requiring a large “tax” for the privilege of moving out.”

It’s called a “sales tax” on the price you get for your apartment. Last I checked it was at 1%, which is not a small chunk of change for most Manhattan apartments. That could easily be increased to 1.5% or 2%.

Of all the ills that NYC needs solutions for, I find it beyond belief that the FIRST thing this anal orifice wants to do is get rid of the carriage horses. And, like the good libtard that he is, he completely fails to consider CONSEQUENCES. New homes for horses are hard to come by, I see all the postings by horse rescue groups. So instead of “saving” the carriage horses from their environment, I see these poor horses being the first victims of His Libtardness, probably ending up in a kill auction in PA, poor things. Breaks my heart.

Why? The FIRST thing Dinkins did as mayor was to order himself an $11,000 headboard for his bed! He also presided over the first pogrom in NYC that I ever heard of, with Yankel Rosenbaum being killed as a result.

I suspect you are right, this will be a minimal harm crusade for normal American people. Anyone who makes a half million a year and still lives/works in NYC is likely to be an Obama/deBlasio voter already, so the "rich" will only be getting what they voted for.

I think the financial industry should move to another city. If they chose Dallas, their employees could take advantage of the fact that Texas has no personal income tax.

They come down here to Florida and turn a formerly red state more blue. Like what happened to colorado...bunches of Californians moved in and ruined that state too.

The problem is that the immigrants who backfill those who move out are as liberal or more liberal.

RE: Thank God I GTFO of NYC in 76.

Are you still in NY State, or did you move out?

Exactly. A working horse is a living horse, and once horses are no longer needed to do anything, it’s off to the slaughterhouse. People can’t keep them as lawn ornaments, particularly in NYC.

Plus, the horses were well-treated, many of them were former Amish plow horses who were living out their retirement plodding around for a few hours with friendly tourists, and on the whole, their life was pretty good.

But what would somebody like De Blasio (formerly known as Wilhelm) know about horses, other than what PETA tells him?

I’m not one to be popping popcorn, but I have to admit I’m to the point where there are wide swaths of this country I no longer give a single, solitary damn about.

After 9/11, I spent a lot of time and raised a lot of money. Time and money I couldn’t really afford. Would I do it again, now that NYC has gone full-bore commie? No way in hell. Parts of the country that vote in commies, embrace sick deviancy like fag-marriage... my interest in their survival, their well-being, their very existence, is absolutely nil.

Remember when Bernstein (of Woodward and Bernstein fame) stole a horse drawn carriage from in front of the Plaza. I think he overturned it.

Yes, I believe alcohol was involved.

I believe that DeBlutto will achieve income equality while Mayor. By the end of his mayoralty, only the poor will be left in NYC.
