Neil Boortz: Social Conservatives Will Prevent Republican Majority
The Right Scoop ^ | 12/29/2013 | Caleb Howe

Posted on 12/29/2013 7:06:04 PM PST by SeekAndFind

“I don’t think the Republicans are going to take the Senate next year. They’ll keep the House, but they’re not going to get the Senate and I’ll tell you why – because they simply cannot resist the urge, the impulse to get into this social conservatism.” – Neal Boortz

Filling in for Sean Hannity earlier this week, Neal Boortz suggested that Republicans will be unable to take the House in 2014, and that the reason will be social conservatives and cultural issues.

(via Breitbart.tv)

This whole thing about Phil Robertson and what have you – it speaks a lot to what we have coming up in the election next year. We desperately need to get the Democrats out of control of the United States Senate. The survival of our republic may depend on getting the Democrats out of control of the Senate, sending Harry Reid into the position of minority leader in the U.S. Senate – the survival of the republic may depend on that. And the Democrats are afraid that is indeed what is going to happen. That is why Harry Reid pulled the nuclear option a couple of weeks ago – because they were afraid we may lose the Senate.

This is a common refrain in Washington and among the “old guard” of the GOP: The notion that we can totally win if only we would stop caring about silly little backwoods issues like abortion, prayer, marriage, values and, well, the list goes on. It is not actually difficult to understand why this idea appeals to this group. After all, who can but think that we should do whatever it takes to ensure a Republican majority in the hopes of stopping the runaway spending train and reckless mismanagement of America under the current regime? Not to mention the steady decrease in American power and prestige on the world stage. We’re less safe, less wealthy, less secure, and soon to be less healthy. To stop the agenda set in motion by the pseudo-socialist politics of the democrat party has to be paramount, surely.

But expecting social conservatives to accept that their core issues should “sit this one out” is an absurd expectation. What are we saving if we surrender our values in order to save it? For social conservatives, the threats they see are every bit as immediate, every bit as damaging, and every bit as dangerous as the fiscal issues. Why then relent? Shunning social conservatives hasn’t worked yet. What makes them think it will in the future? Especially when we have overwhelming evidence that America is just about fed up with the moral decline in America. Just ask A&E.

So yes, social conservative issues will continue to play a major role in politics and elections for the foreseeable future. Maybe our Washington problem-solvers should try and figure out a strategy for working with that, rather than coming back every two years and telling social conservatives to be neither seen nor heard while still expecting them to turn out and support the party.

The re-election of Obama made manifest the lie that Guv-Lite (ie sepulchered GOP) is the first step in taking our nation back from Progessivism. There is either Progressivism, or there is Constitutionalism. 2012 was the final election when Conservatives would vote for a sepulchered GOP candidate. Any such candidate will now lose by a vast margin to the Maoist. There is only one alternative: a true Constitutional Conservative, and that candidate will always win handily.

If you quit blaspheming Boortz

What are you talking about? If you re-read my post, I'm actually both proving Boortz's point and disagreeing with him.

Republicans don't need to abandon social conservatism. But if they really have to talk about it 24/7, then they're not social conservatives to begin with.

The key is to support your positions, state them eloquently, and tell the other side to pound sand and that you're not compromising. That's the main problem with Republicans, is when Dems use social issues to divide them, they either grovel and apologize or go off on a non-stop tandem that portrays them as the right-wing stereotype Dems want.

Another poster upthread said to look at Reagan and Sarah Palin as models for promoting social conservatism and why they're so popular.

I refuse to let anyone especially someone like Boortz force me to stay home. If I have to hold my nose so be it. I refuse to give in to the rats and libertarians

Shows how stupid the average republican "Thinker" is. There is no reason whatsoever that social conservatism needs to be an obstacle to election. The appropriate tactic is to do what the left does. Send a clear message to the base but campaign on the mainstream issues. You can be pro life and anti-homosexual adoption without making a lightning rod out of it.

Of what value is a republican “majority” in the Senate if they all vote with the Dems? Ten more Grahams and McCains?

Half the so called republicans in the Senate now piss themselves when Dingy Harry scowls at them. More RINO pussies like that will do what to advance the cause of rescuing the Republic?

The liberal pubbies are getting nervous that we are not voting for the lesser of two evils this time around and they are trying to preempt it early on.

It’s absolutely amazing. Here in KY, McConnell will supply the Vaseline for Reid to screw him and ten minutes later will be trying to destroy Kentucky conservatives with vile advertisements.

Are they finally figuring out that we have decided we have nothing to gain by voting for them? And their solution will be to further screw us.

This is just so damn disgusting.

You’re right.

I’m a two issue voter, pro life and pro Israel, and it has never caused me to deviate from rock solid support of Republicans since 1984.

Boortz has done nothing but weaken my resolve for Republicans and Hannity better explain why this worm was on his show.

Anybody who thinks this country can survive while killing millions of babies is dreaming.

Right, China should be falling into the abyss any time now because they kill more babies than rest of the world combined with abortions.

Actually, the MSM will sling the question like this: "Should a twelve year old girl who is raped by her uncle be legally required to carry the fetus to full term??"

And you may well answer - That is an easy question. You deliver the baby to full term and then put it up for adoption. - as long as you recognize that maybe 15 percent of the voters agree with you, and that you have just handed the election to a full bore abortionist Democrat.

Stick to your guns, but just don't delude yourself about the likely outcome.

No more (”kinder, gentler nation”) Bushes, Doles, McCains, Romneys. They are the reason why this country is in a mess!

The GOP elite want us to be Progressive Lite. Totally stupid. Why would any lefty or freeloader ever vote for them when the Dems are the REAL thing??

I just can’t understand this thinking! That’s why it’s the stupid party.

Those issues ought to be symbolic for anyone who wishes to stop the big government juggernaut. Do they really think that, for the socialists, it is all about money?

boortz is a moral-less slime bucket and justifies any coarse behavior with the "I'm a libertarian" meme.

Boortz is less Libertarian than he is libertine. There always seems to be an overlap, some more than others.
