Has A&E Awakened a Sleeping Giant?
American Thinker ^ | December 23, 2013 | Robert Arvay

Posted on 12/23/2013 1:30:50 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

While the Japanese were celebrating the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, the mastermind of that attack, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, had a sobering message for his countrymen. "We have awakened a sleeping giant," he said.

Even before the war began, the admiral had warned his emperor that Japan would enjoy early victories in any war with the United States, but that winning streak would last only six months to a year, after which American industrial might would inevitably overwhelm the small island nation.

He was right. For the first few months of World War II, the Japanese war machine steamrolled over the Pacific, humiliating and defeating the best that the United States and its allies (British Commonwealth and Dutch) could throw against it, winning battle after battle. To some, it seemed hopeless to resist.

Then came the Battle of Midway, where the Japanese Navy suffered its first catastrophe, and the long, bloody road to Allied victory began.

For years now, the gay lobby has steamrolled over the Christian conservative movement, humiliating us and defeating us in battle after battle. Then came the battle of "Duck Dynasty," and the gay lobby suffered a major backlash. Have they finally met their Midway?

For many years now, the drill has become familiar. Someone speaks out in favor of maintaining the traditions of marriage, and instantly the gay rights organizations are up in arms, making threats, filing lawsuits, and mobilizing protests. Then, instead of Christians putting up a serious resistance, there is apathy, apology, and defeat. The script was repeated over and again, time after time.

This time was different....

This is a distraction from the
Obacare is a complete failure story.

it is worth repeating

Obamacare is a complete failure.

THIS has to be the subject at the christmas gatherings.
Obamacare is a complete failure.

This a&e story matters very little. It is like saying the first winner of survivor is more important than Obamacare is a complete failure.

Meanwhile the rose parade which will be watched by millions will have two men simulating marriage as a public proclamation as to their method of orgasm.

RINO women support homosexuals because their like their frufru designers.

RINO men can’t get any sex unless they are homosexual or have rino women.

I want my children to design the factories of the future and to program the robots who will work there - not work in a factory themselves.

Well, I bet those low-skilled workers who work in a factory are not welcome in your neighborhood or around your children or social station. That’s telling them!

I should hope you aspire better for your children as well. Why settle for a low-skill job when there is so much opportunity out there to do better.

It's sad that so many people never realize their potential because they set their sights so low.

Sam, best think again about “low skilled workers”.

Some of those falling in your blanket category have $100K+ per year jobs. And not a small number - quite a few.

If you’re talking about the manufacturing equivalent of hamburger flippers, yeah, those jobs are going away, or gone.

But there are still a large number of well paid jobs that don’t require college.

I know! And I have one of them. Not sure how college entered the picture but be the best that you can be. The days of Laverne & Shirley making a living sticking bottle caps on beer bottles is OVER!

All that is done by machine. Let's not set our sights so low that we can be replaced by machine. Too many people have the attitude that they are entitled making a living doing a low skill job. Always be looking to better yourself so that you do not get replaced by some robot or some Asian person in New Taipai.

Ehhhhh, yeah I get it. People get upset and are ready to take up arms when a teevee personality gets slammed in an interview. It gets ramped up and they get more annoyed.

Yeah I get it, but aak the same people how many men died in the Bengazi raid and you will get blank stares.

Maybe you do not get it, FRiend....

Conservatives are ignoring the fact that in 2008 California voted against gay marriage and every other state voted against it before recent elections.

And don't forget prop 187 which CA also voted overwhelmingly for only to have state and feds burn their ballots and declare their free election illegal...Never forgot..

The reason that voters are no longer against gay marriage is that big business threw their weight into it.

If I can be honest here, big biz only cares about profits...Nothing else., Profits regardless of consequences so they cannot be trusted.

Government at all levels only care about votes, power, control, your money/assets. So they can't be trusted either.

Believe me I have harped on Obamacare more than anyone else that I know and will continue to do so. But this was a cheery piece to read, and good entertainment.

Round two started the other day with lefty strongman, Charlie Sheen taking time away from his busy schedule to hit back hard on Twitter.

“hey Mallard brained
Phil Robertso!
you have offended and hurt so many dear friends of mine,
who DO NOT have the voice or the outreach that I do.
well news flash
shower-dodger,
I will speak loudly and clearly for ALL of them.
so,
just when your desperately sub evolved ass thought the pressure was off,
you are now in the crosshairs of a MaSheen style media
beat down.
(I’ll try to keep the big words to a minimum as not to confuse you)

your statements were and are
abhorrently and
mendaciously unforgivable.

the idea that you have a job
outside of dirt-clod stacking
is a miracle.

the only ‘Dynasty’ you are attached to might be the
re-runs of that dated show.

the only thing you should ever be in charge of building is a hole in the ground the exact size of
your head.
perhaps your beard would fit as well if you plucked out the
army of scabies and
bull weevils sequestered deep in it’s sarcophagus of dander and weasel pelts.

shame on you.
you’re the only surviving
brain donor I’ve ever known.

when the gators and Egrets
kick you out of their
hovel,
you need to make serious amends to those you have
radically offended.

on the eight day
when I was whittling my cosmic banjo,
I’m pretty sure YOU were the scattered dross I then used to light a fire and
locate the nearest
Andy Gump.

repulsed by you;
c sheen”

I hope Mr. Robertson can take harsh words like that coming from a Hollywood icon.

Winning better read up on Church Dogma concerning homosexual acts; the Pope is going to fire his Vatican Assassin ass pretty soon if he doesn’t keep his mouth shut or veins “clean” judging by that picture.

Ear tick,
I have a different take on this. I have found it instructive to study the great wars and battles of history for lessons about the challenges and struggles of life.

If you read the writings of WWII soldiers and leaders you find truths about finding strength and courage when you think you have none. You find lessons about knowing who is in your foxhole, and that you need to watch your buddy’s back, especially when he is down. You learn that you leave no man behind. You learn that you must tend to your weapons and you must take advantage of lulls in the battle because your men need you refreshed. You learn that men can get disoriented in battle and lose track of which direction they are supposed to be pushing. You learn that sometimes the best fighters lose it. Sometimes they don’t get it back.

Many don’t go back home.

You learn that you can defeat an undefeatable foe, but its going to be a costly endeavor.

Agreed, few of us in America have faced the horrors and have earned the valor those men and women did. But we can learn much about battling evil in a world that seems to have a limitless supply of it.

We enjoy the freedoms they secured yet again for us. But in my humble opinion they are offering us much, much more.
