Obama Says 1 Million Signed up for Health Care (BS!!!)
ABC News ^ | 12/22/2013 | RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR and JULIE PACE

His health care plan facing a dicey transition, President Barack Obama said Friday that insurance sign-ups are surging now that the government's website is working better for consumers. But it was too soon to say the rollout has turned the corner.

More than 1 million people have enrolled since Oct. 1, Obama said at his end-of-the-year press conference. That's more than two-and-a-half times the number on Nov. 30, when major fixes to the website were completed. At that point, only 365,000 had signed up through new federal and state markets offering subsidized private insurance.

"That is a big deal," Obama said of getting coverage for uninsured people. "That's why I ran for this office."

Separately, officials said 3.9 million people have qualified for government health care through the law's Medicaid expansion. Even so, things aren't exactly humming along.

HealthCare.gov was down for part of the day Friday, as technicians attempted to fix an error that occurred Thursday night when the site was undergoing routine maintenance, officials explained.

The administration cannot afford for the balky website to crash this weekend. Because of Monday's deadline to sign up so coverage can take effect Jan. 1, unusually heavy traffic is expected on the federal site and those run by states.

Largely hidden from consumers, another set of technical problems is frustrating insurers, who say the government continues to send them inaccurate data on some enrolled individuals. Insurers call some of those jumbled enrollment files "orphans" and others "ghosts."

They could turn into gremlins after Jan. 1 for some patients trying to use their new coverage. Consumers might show up at the pharmacy counter or doctor's office only to be told they're not in the system.

By the summer of 2014, they’ll be handing out ObamaCare policies with the food stamp cards, in time for the fall elections. Of course, no one will get to see a doctor, but hey, they’ll have “health care coverage.”

1 million is not impressive at all. If that is a lie, it is not a great one. They expected about 7 million by Monday originally. Plus not a single person has paid yet. Even with the extension, I can’t imagine how people will have extra money right after Christmas to pay for these outrageous costs.

This is so stupid. They should have just put those original 36 million without insurance on the Medicaid program. Believe it or not, it would have saved us money in the long run after this monstrosity.

“Consumers might show up at the pharmacy counter or doctor’s office only to be told they’re not in the system.”

Doesn’t it have a $7000 deductible anyhow?

The goal was never to save money.
The goal was never to provide healthcare.
The goal was never to help the poor.

The goal is control, and it’s all working out perfectly.

According to joe biteme, “This is a big F’n deal!”. More like a raw deal. And, as usual, the “lyin’ king” lives up to his nickname. What’d he score on his round of golf yesterday? 18? Hole in one on every hole?

Actually, I think Obama said 1 million people have "selected" health insurance. That means they dropped a plan into their "shopping cart". It does not mean they pressed the "buy" button. And it certainly does not mean they have made their first payment, which is the traditional measure of "enrollment".

You have to parse the words to understand the spin. The lies continue.

Personally, I think that the goal is to force lots of people onto Medicaid in an attempt to bankrupt the states and make them more dependant on the Federal Government.

Even if his number is accurate, (nobody believes it is), 1mil is a far cry from the rest of the population, that's supposed to be signed up in the next 9 days.

and it will sit in the shopping cart which most probably forgot about when they saw the price tag. There has been many times I forgot to hit the “remove” button.

I suggested that it might have been cheaper, a couple of weeks ago and was castigated for it. Not that medicaid would have been better or that medicaid is a good thing, just that it would have been cheaper.

That was the goal and Medicaid Expansion has been Obama’s glowing success part of Obamacare.
Medicaid is the tool that Obama intended to direct America to a single payer.

Not just cheaper. It would have been a lot cheaper. The vast majority of people without coverage do so by choice because they are healthy and have minimal health care costs. If they aren’t going to the doctor now, they won’t go when they have Medicaid either.

Some plans, more than that.

Medicare is around $150 deductible then it's 80/20 thereafter, with about $105 per month premium.

Not that one has anything to do with the other, other than the fact that they are both socialist/communist plans.
