If you are wondering why low-rated cable television shows and networks not only stay alive but also manage to be profitable, it is due to the bundled cable racket that forces over a hundred million Americans to pay for dozens of channels they don't like and/or watch. For example, if you want Fox News but have to get CNN and MSNBC in the package, chances are very good that CNN and MSNBC are getting a chunk of your cable bill.
Yep, that is right. This racket has been so perfected that not only is failure rewarded, the networks can pretty much broadcast whatever they like because ratings don't matter all that much. And when you have 100 channels owned by a half-dozen or so multi-nationals, they are also pretty much boycott proof.
It is a simple and sad fact that America is already not-watching CNN, MSNBC, Jon Stewart, and others, but they still have an impact because Big Entertainment makes billions from bundled cable and can therefore afford to keep them on the air. The left-wing monopoly on our culture is subsidized not by popular acclaim but by bundled cable.
This means that boycotting or not-watching A&E is not going to matter a whole lot to A&E.

Quit 10 years ago-—and still saw some Duck Dynasty programs....on the Computer for free.
I control what and when I watch or read anything most of the time. It is great. I read a lot-—books that the Left hates. Most on tv is worthless.
Just read the Liepzig Connection.......many TV shows/movies since Archie Bunker is filled with the Wundtian psychology to destroy the concept of virtue in our children.
With Hulu, don’t you need an unlimited data plan, like DSL?
Whoa. You could have knocked me over with a rubber chicken!
I would think it's actually the easier thing to give up.
We have never had cable, but we have big screen TV's in the break areas at work, (where we have a channel war between MSNBC and Fox, but that's another story) Seems to me that the little bit of stuff I catch on Fox I already know about because I saw it on FR first.

But Duck Dynasty WITH Phil is on A&E right now. A banning with no ban.
We did that a month ago. TV plus cable went up to $90 a month. Uh .... nope. Cancelled it all and my son set up my laptap to get whatever we want off the Internet and stream it to my TV screen.
Wow. Thank you!
If I did not have my G-Sat dish, I would have little TV at all. Here in the Philippines, A&E is “The History Channel”.
Many, of my favorite programs are on that channel.
Cable pay TV is one the biggest frauds of all time...
It was billed as commercial free 40 years ago... And over time they got millions of suckers to pay to watch commercials, which they’ve aleady been paid for.
yukyuk..
Now the couch community can watch 397 channels of total mindless pap as they scarf Chinese Cheetos and droll in cups.
Already did last year. Use Apple TV and Netflix. I listen to Fox News with the SiriusXM app. Didn’t like my dollars going to people like Al Sharpton. I will probably add The Blaze now that they have expanded their programming options.
I dropped cable about a year ago. I noticed that we were only watching Netflix, except for hubby, who liked to watch the weather channel. When I pointed out that we were spending $50/month for the weather channel, he said to drop it.
A&E and other cable channels run commercials that produce revenue. If the eyeballs aren’t on their programming, then they can’t sell time at the rate they would like. Commercials on MSNBC are much cheaper to run than those on Fox News.
They will be wasting their time. Why would people pay $10 a month? I think CMT or AMC would be better.
ROBERTSON FAMILY STATEMENT ON Duck commander website at 7pm
We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&Es decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phils unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and Love your neighbor as yourself. Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

Cant find the link but I read it. Basically they said they aren’t doing the show without Phil.
What is there to talk about?
We now have satellite TV after about 5 years of just antennae. Getting the TV stations is actually incidental too having internet. We live in the boonies and satellite is the only way for high speed. having the TV channels, as well as double the download for only $6 months more a month is well worth it.
Oh, and our 15yo daughter rarely watches it at all - when she gets home from school she glances at what I have on and if it is something like Bones or NCIS or Criminal Minds she will ask for a recap of what she missed, will watch the rest and not look at it again until the next day.
we cancelled ours a year ago.
