Phil Robertson: Black People Were ‘Happy’ Before Civil Rights
Hollywood Life ^ | December 19, 2013 | Chloe Melas

Posted on 12/19/2013 3:09:26 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

The ‘Duck Dynasty’ star made headlines after telling ‘GQ’ that he believes gay people won’t go to heaven, and now he’s offensive hate language is continuing! You’ll drop to the floor when you read his latest rant!

Phil Robertson is ruffling some feathers once again, and this time he is offending African Americans. The star of A&E’s Duck Dynasty tells the January issue of GQ, that not only being gay is “just not logical,” but that he never noticed racism in the south before the Civil Rights Movement in the 50s.

Phil Robertson Makes Racist Comments

Phil just doesn’t appear to want to soften his opinions, he will just come right out and slam all sorts of individuals.

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once,” he said. “Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field … They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

Wow, so is he saying there was no point for the Civil Rights Movement to even happen? Does he not remember separate schools, bathrooms, horrible mistreatment and more? It’s unfortunate he isn’t more sensitive with his words.

Phil Slams Gay People In New Interview

Phil first made headlines for comparing gay people to prostitutes, drunkards, and slanderers. He said gay people won’t go to heaven and that being gay could lead to bestiality.

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there,” Phil says. “Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men. Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

He even said he didn’t understand why someone wouldn’t want to sleep with a woman: “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

GLADD Responds To Phil’s Anti-Gay Comments

GLADD immediately responded with a statement after Phil offended the gay and lesbian organization.

“Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil’s lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe,” said spokesperson Wilson Cruz. “He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans – and Americans – who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil’s decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families.”

A&E also suspended Phil from the show for now.

I have always felt basically the same way. When they dropped the black society into the welfare state, and then added the Racism of Jessie Jackson, and Al Farrakhan telling the black race how they should hate white people. That is when the real trouble began.

I am not against Civil rights. But when you add all of the above onto Civil rights then you destroy a once great black culture. You then turn it into a culture of entitlement, hate and crime as it is today.

Some people assume that because there were real injustices in the past that people were incapable of being happy without government stepping in and correcting them. Its just not true.

Seems to me that all people were happier before democrats created a perpetual outrage industry. The injustices have long since been corrected and now the outrage industry needs to go down the memory hole.

The Church never can and never will give satisfaction—and the homosexualist knows it, for he knows the words against him are ineradicable—to the declared and impenitent homosexual, the person who, through an act of the vermiculate will, has identified his person with a sin, whether he demands acceptance of his sin through "love," or vindication through identification of his perceived enemies as bigots.

One of the best articles I've read on the subject - read the entire article, very clarifying, IMO.

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. as it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:18-19.

” no one was singing the blues.”

Billie Holiday and Jelly Roll Morton would have disagreed with him ;)

He should quit while he’s ahead.

Did you read his actual quotes?

The evil left is going all out to utterly destroy this man.

Every article like this one is full of lies and distortions. The totalitarian left is relentless in their desire to destroy Conservatives.

If one truly believes in Liberty and Freedom then they have an obligation to stand up to this smear of Phil and all Christians.

I worked side-by-side with many "Negros" (that's what they called themselves) back in the early 60's. In J&L Steel mill, Hazelwood, PA. (Yes, I was a union guy back then).

Small world! Wow, another Pennsylvania union guy here on Free Republic. I think you'll appreciate my recollections of busting a union up there. I still remember the thrill of leaving the Federal Building on Grant Street after the successful decertification vote. Busting a union in -- of all places -- Pennsylvania is still one of the high points of my 70+ years.

That’s a classic, lol. Get em, Phil!

I am not supporting his firing or smearing. Nothing to do with his shows or merchandise.

I am saying he is ignorant about the plight of blacks in general and generalized from the small group of people he knew.

I can read and think for myself.

LOL Very true! Funny how “they” had musical talent before the entitlement/welfare state began. Since then it has been a steady decline into the grunt-and-twerk garbage they call music now. Is that a sign of happiness?

I don’t have to read, I grew up with a grandmother and great-aunt who worked in the cotton and soybean fields along with other poor people of races, who bettered themselves by going to school to be nurses.

As to your condescending remark re reading, I dare say in my 50+ years as a bookworm mostly interested in non-fiction (history and biography), I have read plenty on the topic. Even then you must consider the source and whether they have an axe to grind.

Opposition to the welfare state has always been, and still is, a main plank of the conservative platform.

I know. In the whole history of mankind, poor people never sang and danced (just ignore the folk dances and songs of all cultures) until the left came along to give them free stuff!

This may sound crazy to a liberal but I grew up in a small town in the South and I never saw racism either.

And so can the rest of us, whom you keep telling to “go read something”. Some of us even experienced it first hand or were raised by those who did.

One of the happiest people I've ever met was this panhandler who used to be out in front of Comerica park in Detroit.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He was clean, sober and didn't harass people so the park let him stick around and sing his "Let's go Tigers" song with his hulk hand and plastic cup. He said everybody was friendly and if they didn't have change they all had a wave and a hello.

Sadly he was killed by a hit and run driver this summer as he pushed a wheelchair bound homeless guy across a street. The Tiger organization stepped up and paid for his funeral and even bought a custom Detroit Tigers casket.

I was raised in the south in the 40s and 50s and lived there again in the late sixties. I lived amongst all those happy colored people.
