Conservatives: We’re ‘under attack’ on Hill
Politico ^ | December 11, 2013 | ANNA PALMER and JAKE SHERMAN

Conservative activists are hitting back.

More than 50 high profile conservatives signed onto a statement Wednesday responding to both House Speaker John Boehner’s harsh words for conservative groups earlier in the day and to the firing of the Republican Study Committee’s long-time executive director Paul Teller.

“It is clear that the conservative movement has come under attack on Capitol Hill today,” the statement reads.

I agree! It makes me happy to hear that people are on YouTube explaining things and voicing conservative opinion. That is where we need to be.

I am always heartened by trending Obama jokes on twitter, to see (via their photos when they have them) young people, of all races, joining the joke fest with jokes with that grain of truth in them, meaning they get it.

I’m with you. I got a lot out of the Holocaust museum; they did it so very well. But I will never go to a concentration camp. I agree; some need to go.

You are correct. I have known for a few years now what season we are in. Amazed that so many cannot see it for what it is.

The greatest lesson I learned during my time at Off-road.com regarding media/communication was this. If you don’t see something you want/need, go make it.

We were fortunate to be in a time when it was all new to the world. However we were also at a disadvantage in that the conventional wisdom/mindset was that the net was a kids video game not to be taken seriously.

Our competition was never other websites but the magazines like Four Wheeler, Off-Road, Petersons 4-Wheel and Off-Road and some of the smaller ones. In the beginning when we did event coverage, the sanctioning bodies like SCORE gave all the access etc to the mags since they were established. Within 2 years the mags were bitching that we were undercutting them and had the knives out.

My point is this. We mock the amateur hour BS of the MSM and for good reason. But no one ever thinks it all the way through. They act like amateur hour because they ARE matures today. The long held ‘crusading reporter’ meme is a thing of the past in the MSM because a reporter is nothing more than a press agent for a combo of the publisher, the advertizers and the power brokers pulling the strings.

No reporter will write SQUAT without a litany of authorizations/approvals from those above them. It works that way in small town papers, regionals and the big outlets. And I know this from personal experience. Any of the several current/former reporters here on FR will attest to this. Sure, they get leeway on puff pieces that can do little harm, yet even there, there are plenty of ‘guidelines’ so as to NEVER upset anyone. There is NO leeway on political pieces. There is a script and a predetermined outcome.

Now of course Windy, and we have talked about it, Palin and her little facebook page have done what no MSM outlet can. But people are so locked in to the idea that “Oh we are screwed because of the media. Sure. They still have power to cause holy hell.

Sooooooo....take it from them like we did. We had exactly 1 ‘real journalist’ when ORC began. Rick Sieman, former Ed of Dirt Bike Magazine. And he was mostly our mentor (and thank God for him). But a handfull of us went up against our little corner of the industry and succeeded wildly without ‘official’ approval and outside ‘accepted channels’.

Today all the Youtube videos and serious blogs are an immense groundwork. What they need to be is a network. Because they dwarf the size of the MSM. They reach more people more directly than the MSM and to be straight up honest, even the most questionable of blogs is more TRUSTED...BY FAR than the MSM.

You bring those entities together, even marginally in coordinated effort and you put an unrecoverable hurt on the MSM, strip them of their power and win.

All one needs to do is observe the effort that certain groups put into marginalizing the very idea that the proverbial grassroots could use such a vehicle to cut out the media, to see what the media fear most: Direct and unfiltered access between unapproved messengers and the people who pay the MSM’s bills.

Because if they are bypassed, their and the lib power structure is stripped of the power it now enjoys.

So why isn’t it happening? The same mentality that got us Presidential candidates like Romney. Too much work. Lets just go with the lesser evil ‘placeholder’ till someone better comes along ‘next time’.

Norm... please do not leave. There are more of us than them and Jim is one of us. This fight must continue and you are fighting for good over evil. I have been driven from this place twice but I stood my ground and I do not regret it... and I am still here. I feel that GOD wants me here and I believe that HE wants you here too... at least I want you here... so don’t leave.

I know for a fact that at least 80 Republican Congressmen do not trust the gop/e leadership and that is because I have heard many say it directly and have read accounts and talked with others with direct contact. We have 80 good people in the House that are solid FReeper type thinkers... we have 18 in the Senate... the rest will follow when we have power to lead because they are weaklings and weak minded and only have the ability to be led by the nose. THOSE we must work to replace until they are no more. None of this is new... Levin said it yesterday... everything that happens today has happened to Reagan and those that supported him... everything that has been said today was said about Reagan and those that supported him... Mark was there and I was there... I worked for Reagan’s election twice in my State... so Mark’s words are the golden truth.

Thank you for the kind words. I greatly appreciate it. That said, again, it’s not about me and to be honest, there’s not one of these idiots capable of driving me to do anything but mock them.

However:

There comes a time when one has to take stock of reality. And I am not saying FR is unique. It is just one of many sites plagued by pretend conservatives with pretend principles infiltrating it’s userbase and running wild.

None of what we currently believe to be Right wing/Conservative websites is immune. And to date, they each share one key feature. In the name of debate/free speech/open expression, many of the sites, and the people on them push and push and push the most unconservative/Right of positions. Things that a mere 10 years ago would have been hammered into oblivion by said sites and the actual conservatives on them.

If anyone can explain how “Compartmentalizing” (thanks for bringing that up Invar) things like Abortion, calling it’s supporters ‘a lesser Evil” and then attacking people who refuse to vote for them is in ANY WAY part and parcel of conservatism or a conservative philosophy, they should explain themselves/position so we can all accept r reject it and then ‘move on’ to the next issue.

And there are MANY next issues that must be addressed to determine what modern conservatism actually is.

When so many repeat ad nausem that we must have principled and honest leaders we can trust, then turn on a freaking dime and demand we vote for something quite the opposite, is there really any excuse? Really? Because if there is a legit excuse then not conservativism in any accepted definition, nor principle by any accepted definition. What it i, is situational ethics. And is situational ethics the polar opposite of principle?

by extension, are people practicing situational ethics principled? How can they be?

Words have meanings. And it is long past the time where we on the right need to look inside ourselves and ask what it is we really believe. Because I would again submit that if we don’t have a clue what we really believe, how can we ever hope to bring anyone along with it?

When a number of us spent months trying to get straight answers from people before, during and after the Romney disaster, no one wanted to hear it. Many were locked into fear mode or were ‘pragmatic” (read that fully exercising situational ethics). On this thread earlier, one of those people rehashed the ‘placeholder” meme.

What has that accomplished? Well, the facts and actual documented history show that their failed effort to install on open liberal as a republican president helped open the floodgates to a more liberal GOP congress and senate.

That’s not a fantasy, a lie or an opinion. It is a fact and anyone continuing to deny it in light of the GOP’s recent attacks on conservatives, move hard left on Amnesty/gay marriage, the refusal to pursue any more than a show trial/investigations over Holder/Bhenghazi/Clinton...

Is lying to themselves and more importantly, to the rest of us.

Now before one of the ethically flexible decides to call me arrogant/preachy/whatever, they should know that it ain’t arrogant to be correct. And I challenge them to factually disprove a single thing I have said here,

Now to wrap this War and Peace post up, I would say this. No man or handful of people is an army. Can they make a difference? Sure. However, we don’t have the luxury continuing a failed model. YEARS have elapsed as the current model has played out and the result is a fractured Conservative case that can’t do anything but point fingers at the GOP and be pissed.

Instead, we need to follow a 12 step kinds thing and ADMIT that we have a problem. Then fix it. And like the most hardcore of drunks/addicts, sometimes you just have to let them hit bottom before they are ready to begin the road to recovery.

Sometimes they don’t make it. And there’s nothing you or I can do about it. We have tried to turn these people over and over. Through facts, historical example and current proof. And like those drunks, they just go right back to the bottle rather than face reality.

When they decide to address their problem. I will be glad to do what I can to help. For now. Not so much.

I will continue to fight them here and even in the streets should it come to that. I love this Republic and what is was FOUNDED upon... enough to give what little value my life has to defend her existence. They will have to kill me and millions like you and me before they can extinguish that light. If you need backup... call... I will battle beside you and fight anyone on this site if they stand against Freedom and Liberty. The rat party and the almost rat party are our enemies and the enemy to all who believe in our unique creation... and it was a creation touched by GOD and the Holy Spirit in its founding. You are not alone.

Just to clarify, I have never thought I was alone. Nor do I want to be a martyr or messianic figure ;) But people need to stop looking outside for solutions and look in the mirror. God helps those who help themselves.

Few of us seem to want to even attempt doing that. That’s the core of the entire problem.

“The man has been turned.”

Wrong. He was a plant right from the start. Infiltrate, Infiltrate, and Infiltrate some more.

That's very possible. I will admit that I tend to explain his growing loathsomeness on a country club/Beltway nouveau riche neurosis that compels him to continually distance himself from the realities of the average American and the scary prospect of actually living by the sweat of his brow. I can see him standing alone in front of the Tidal Basin at sunset, waving a fist at conservatives and vowing "As God is my witness, I'll never go hungry again!"

(Frankly, Mr. Speaker, I don't give a damn.)

“God helps those who help themselves.”

Not Biblical...rather God raises up the humble while abasing the proud. God’s strength is made perfect in weakness!

So we are to screw up royally, take no action to correct our mistakes and wait for God to fix it all for us?

Then we should all just go home now then right?

I see nothing prideful in working to return to a constitutional governance. In fact it is rather humble to admit that we must live under laws. Laws being things designed to rein in chaos and excess.

Thus it is quite Biblical.

In conjunction with Norm’s thoughts in post 209, we need to be mindful of something that has been warned about - and it explains to a large degree, the problem being addressed:

“The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. “ -2 Thessalonians 2:9-10

Without getting into a theological argument - the historic and biblical fact is that all civilizations that have collapsed and fell into ruin - have suffered this same exact fate. While Paul is specifically addressing the final fall of man’s age in the world in this passage - the fact is lawlessness in a society is the working of Satan himself. When such lawlessness exists in a society, a people who benefit from corruption or have learned to live under it, will not hear any truth - even if the truth will save them from calamity.

But here is the root cause of what Norm is talking about:

“And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” - 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

When you read people who think they are ‘conservative’ who demand we vote for a lesser evil and support a corrupted party - they are people who are strongly deluded to believe the lies, who will not hear the truth, even when the truth would save them. They are comfortable with the status quo, fear evil more than they fear God and/or benefit from the corruption itself.

As such - like Norm suggests - we have to leave them to their own destruction. There is no pleading with them, or winning them over by persuasion. We have to walk away from them for they are in league with the enemy. They will attack you with more vigor than even those they claim to oppose. Treason from within is much worse than an external enemy. We have nothing in common with such people any longer. The social compact is dissolved because we let evil take up residence among us. We either flee and resist evil, or we will be conquered by it.

God is not going to fight this battle for us because we as a people have refused to take a stand against evil. We’ve done nothing to protect the gift of liberty bequeathed to us - therefore God is not going to protect us from the evil we have surrendered to.

It is humble to admit our sin, repent and then stand and resist evil. What we have to beware of, is those who tell us to sit quiet and wait on the Lord.

God was waiting on us to stand up for our principles and faith.
