Gov. Cuomo: 'We have too much government' [Huh?]

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said Tuesday “We just have too much government.”

Cuomo spoke to reporters about his tax commission’s new report that recommended local governments share or consolidate services in the coming years.

“We just have too much government, period,” Cuomo told reporters on Long Island, according to NYStateofPolitics.com. “We have to find a way to get them to consolidate and share services.”

Since Cuomo served as the state’s attorney general, he’s been working to reduce the size of government, the report notes.

“Not every government has to do everything,” Cuomo said. “Not every government has to have its own insurance department and payroll department and legal department. There can be efficiencies.”

Cuomo’s name has been floated as a potential Democratic candidate for the 2016 presidential race.

Late last month, Cuomo reiterated he is not running for president. He was asked for his reaction to a poll at the time, which said New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) had a higher approval rating than him.

“It said Chris Christie has better numbers for president than I do,” Cuomo said. “Yeah, because he’s running for president, and I am not.”

Somebody ought to be able to use that sound byte in a campaign commercial.

"Even a leftist like Andrew Cuomo says we have too much government..." or the like

Sounds like he’s arguing for Agenda 21 regionalization...get rid of local gov’t and local control.

Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

Local control in the area surrounding New York City (including suburbs in New York and New Jersey) has degraded into a complete disaster that is driving jobs and people out of the area in droves.

This item doesn't tell the whole story. According to that poll, New Jersey Chris Christie had a higher approval rating in New York than New York governor Andrew Cuomo. LOL.

He doesn’t mean we have too much government.

He just means that other people have governmental powers they should relinquish to him.

They know the GOP message is resonating with the public

Thus, they're beginning to do the copycat thing to prevent being shut out in Nov 14.

Even Obama said Gov't is too big in his latest interview LOL.

Is a broken clock right again? or is it just that he thinks local govt’ agencies should turn over power to him?

He’s right but all he is doing is crafting his message for reelection. Like his anti corruption campaign, all fluff, no substance unless your the enemy.

“The Town of Brookhaven listed 1,394 employees and a total payroll of $68,353,647.24 for 2011.”

Lol. (Out on Long Island.)

“Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.”

I think that Cuomo has been looking through the telescope with it turned around. The problem is exactly the opposite from how he’s framed it. Money needs to stay close to home, not hoarded by the state and doled out.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said Tuesday “We just have too much government.”

Yes, Mr. Cuomo, as your own presence on the public payroll conclusively proves...we simply have too much government, and too many talentless hacks such as yourself sucking at the public teat.

Now, Mr. Cuomo...the method by which you can best address this situation is completely obvious to the rest of us. When are you going to implement the necessary measures?

Thanks markomalley.
