Who's Your Person of the Year?
Ricochet ^ | Dec. 9, 2013 | Troy Senik

Posted on 12/09/2013 4:52:37 PM PST by 6ft2inhighheelshoes

As a couple of Ricochetti have noted over on the Member Feed, Time magazine released its list of finalists for person of the year earlier today. The decidedly JV lineup includes the following:

Bashar Assad, President of Syria

Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder

Ted Cruz, Texas Senator

Miley Cyrus, Singer

Pope Francis, Leader of the Catholic Church

Barack Obama, President of the United States

Hassan Rouhani, President of Iran

Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services

Edward Snowden, N.S.A. Leaker

Edith Windsor, Gay rights activist

With the possible exception of Ted Cruz, I doubt that anyone on this list would make the cut here at Ricochet (though keep in mind that Time has always insisted this distinction should go to the most influential person of the year, regardless of whether that influence was positive or negative). Member J Flei asks the operative question:

I could care less about what Time magazine thinks, much more interested in who people from Ricochet think the the person of the year ought be.

So how about it? Who's your choice for 2013's Person of the Year?

Snowden. He changed forever the way we look at big, intrusive government.

Our future president comes second.

For the life of me I don't understand the appeal of Miley Cyrus. Yo, Miley: Drive over the hill into The Valley and ask one of the porn studios to set you up with a well endowed partner. They'd pay you at least $200. Pantomime is no match for the real thing.

Seems to me the obvious choices for 1 and 2 are Pope Francis and Ted Cruz!

Isis, The German Shepherd Dog.

She is better than all people.

After her, Ted Cruz.

Snowden. He affected governments, departments and peoples lives around the world. He fits the description of influential. Everybody knows his name, too.
