The U.S. Army general in charge of training recently wrote about the service's examination of gender neutral standards to open the infantry and other combat-arms jobs to female soldiers.
The piece by Gen. Robert Cone, commander of Training and Doctrine Command, appears in the November issue of Army Magazine, the same month three female Marines made history by graduating from Marine infantry training.
Last January, former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta ordered all services to open combat-arms roles to women that so far have been reserved for men.

They can draft women, and use them in office and non-combat roles. But they have no place anywhere near the front lines.
“Political correctness is driving this society INSANE.”
I think rather that this society’s insanity has driven it to political correctness. It’s just a symptom.
The Russians tried an all-woman division in the Great War. Someone here who has recently examined that history might want to describe what happened. I will summarize by saying the meeting between young women and front-line combat was tragic.
Our adversaries consider all of this hilarious and entertaining.
Yes it has. But to see the numbers side by side it’s incredible. I mean, they aren’t even comparable, but I know this comes as no surprise to you.
I was Air Force. I actually gained 20 lbs in basic training.
Really? That’s amazing. My guy went from 6’3”, 220 to 195 in nine weeks of basic and then dropped another fifteen in AIT. Best shape of his life but when he went off base in civvies for the first time he about fell out of them.
But he maxed his situps so he doesn’t really mind.
So I guess the putting out the campfire with no equipment test is 86ed...
Yeah i was extremely active before going in. Once in I only ran 1 1/2 miles 3 times a week and they worked up to that.
The standards have always been lower. Heck I was in Cheyenne Mountain and they started giving us a bike test. They measured heart rate to determine fitness. The women even had a lower standard in that.
1) Charging handles on M4 must be modified so it won’t break fingernails.
2) Boot’s must be color coordinated with fatigues such as not to clash.
3) Undergarments must not chafe the more sensitive parts.
4) Bra’s must be non-flammable.
I amazed at the difference that womyn don’t have to sign up for the draft to get the gubbamint bennies but men still do.
Equality my ass.
TV and Hollywood are right.
White men are nothing but big boobed, bed wetting helpless piles of couch fat. In fact, without their attractive intelligent brave wives or their college professor African American neighbors to burp them, they'd just die causing even more burden to all.
Take a look at police videos of cops having to fight and wrestle with those they are trying to arrest. If male and female cops are present, watch the males jump right in to the fight while the females flitter around the edges, trying to grab feet, or do something productive. Virtually every cop video is the same in this respect. I feel for the male cop saddled with a female partner, he is on his own in a fight but better to worship political correctness than reality. In real combat, this is a disaster waiting to happen.
If our military and government were infiltrated and captured by a hostile enemy would it behave any differently than it does today?
1) If women get to volunteer for combat duty, will the men get the same choice?
2) The PC military brass want to "crack down" on sexual assault in the service. How will this not increase incidents of sexual assault when you're putting men & women into high pressure compact environments?
For the record, here they are, at least for the Army:
Males (Basic training, ages 17-21) - 35 pushups, 47 situps, 16:36 2-mile run
Females (Basic training, ages 17-21) - 13 pushups, 47 situps, 19:42 2-mile run
Males (Advanced training, ages 17-21) - 42 pushups, 53 situps, 15:54 2-mile run
Females (Advanced training, ages 17-21) - 19 pushups, 53 situps, 18:54 2-mile run
I asked that of people for many years,"What percentage of the Marine Corp should be female?"
Every single person scoffed at a figure of 100%, which reminded me of that old joke about "we have established what you are, now we are just haggling price."
If it can't be 100%, then we all know the truth of this whole issue.
Hey! I don't wet my bed!
Same PT standards as men. If they can do the work, then I’d be more in favor of it.
Until then. No, sir.
