At the "Fast Food Forward" protest on Thursday, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) demanded that Pres. Obama sign an executive order bypassing Congress and unilaterally raising the federal minimum wage. Rep. Ellison told the crowd that they should join him in demanding that Pres. Obama skip seeking Congressional approval and raise the minimum wage on his own - and that he sent the president a letter on Wednesday presenting his demand:

"We in Congress will try to raise the minimum wage. We got opponents on the other side of the aisle who say that there shouldn't be no minimum wage. So, we are in difficulty fighting these guys. "But, we know, at the executive level, an executive order can change the situation. We demand it, right now. Mr. President, sign the executive order. We demand this federal worker work reform, federal contractors. Give the pay raise, the livable, fair wage. Let's do it now. I gave him a letter to this effect, yesterday." As Ellison walked off stage, the crowd chanted: "Sign the executive order!"
I scanned the thread. There are others who see the real point: Ellison is calling for a dictatorship.

The reason people aren’t paid $15 per hour is because their job isn’t worth $15 per hour. Their work doesn’t produce enough profit to cover a $15 per hour salary.

So apparently we do not need Congress any more!. Let’s ban congress as they have no useful purpose. Laws are now dictated by “Executive Orders”!

A friend runs a few [fill in national chain] stores for his parents. Some years ago the company that owns one of the malls he was in decided to significantly up his rent once his lease expired because they knew the business was doing well and thought they’d play a game where they left just enough on the table for them to think it was worthwhile to stay. They thought wrong. 2-3 years later, after many months of the space being empty, the company approached my friend’s parents with a reasonable deal.
Once the min. wage increases and a bunch of people lose their jobs, do you think they’ll go back and lower it to compel such businesses to hire? Not a chance. Plus, more demands are going to be made on the people who are able to keep such jobs. The planned collapse is in sight and things are going to get very ugly.

I think that they should pass a law that ALL low information fast food workers should get at least $30.00 per hour.
In that way they could actually learn a lesson in life and the real world.
1. Their wages would be great and they could buy “stuff.”
2. Their employer would go out of business because he could not sell hamburgers for $35.00 each because people would not buy them.
3. The ignorant low information voters would then be without a job.
4. The low-lifes would not even be able to buy a hamburger even if they could find a place that still sold them.

Add the inflation of raising wages like that to the lurking inflation for a few trillion phony dollars bracing the stock market and it could get even uglier than we know it will.
