Trace Adkins - You're Gonna Miss This

She was starin' out the window of their SUV
Complainin', sayin', I can't wait to turn eighteen
She said, I'll make my own money and I'll make my own rules
Momma, put the car in park out there in front of the school
And she kissed her head, and said, I was just like you

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast

These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In her one bedroom apartment and her daddy stops by
He tells her it's a nice place, she says, It'll do for now
Starts talkin' about babies and buyin' a house
Daddy shakes his head and says, Baby, just slow down

Cuz' you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast

These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Five years later there's a plumber
Workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin' and one kid's screamin'
And she keeps apologizin'

He says, They don't bother me
I've got two babies of my own
One's thirty-six, one's twenty-three
Huh, it's hard to believe

But you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast

These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

You're gonna miss this
Yeah, you're gonna miss this

Teach Your Children - Crosby Stills & Nash

You, who are on the road must have a code that you can live by.
And so become yourself because the past is just a good bye.
Teach your children well, their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams, the one they fix, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry,
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.

And you, of the tender years can't know the fears that your elders grew by,
And so please help them with your youth, they seek the truth before they can die.
Teach your parents well, their children's hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams, the one they fix,the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry, So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.

The Moody Blues: "Emily's Song"

John Lodge wrote this in 1971 for his 4 year old daughter. Catch the celeste solo in the middle.

The Cathedrals "Hallelujah Square"

I'll see all my friends in Hallelujah Square,
what a wonderful time we'll all have up there
We'll sing and praise Jesus, His glory to share,
and you'll not see one blind man in Hallelujah Square...

Elvis Presley: "In the Ghetto"

Mac Davis' first songwriting hit. The gospel choir at the end is a stroke of genius from producer Chips Moman.

Sinatra sang a song called “Emily.” I always loved that song and named my daughter Emily.

LOL, that’s the one I was going to say. Truly one of the greatest songs of all time. Every year when we are finished Christmas decorating we play that song, usually multiple times!
