Why can't private plans continue to be offered even if they don't meet Obamacare coverage requirements?
Nothing! ....However....In my state it is illegal for an insurance company to sell such a policy.
When my husband and I were running a business, it is likely we could have afforded health insurance for our employees if we could have purchased a policy with a deductible of $10,000 or $15,000. Yes, it would have been hard for the employee if, in the event of a health catastrophe, to pay that but it would have prevented the employee losing their house or declaring bankruptcy.
Also,...The insurance companies have contracts with the doctors and hospitals. My knee replacement officially had the price tag of $75,000. The payment to the doctor and the hospital was actually 1/3 that.
The state laws regulating the sale of health insurance STINK! There should be worldwide competition for health insurance, not only across state lines but also across national borders. People should also not be forced to buy policies that pay for maternity, birth control, abortion, or mammograms. People should be able to negotiate for any deductible that makes sense for them and their families. Do that and the cost of insurance would likely drop dramatically and variety would increase.
People should be prepared to pay for routine care. Honestly, do people have car insurance to cover oil changes? Well,...People should begin to think that way about their health as well.

It is worthwhile to look into Dental Select Silver.
It is not dental insurance but it does negotiate lower fees with your dentist. Although my husband and I rarely need anything more than cleanings, Dental Select Silver more than pays for itself.

That is it exactly. Make the private insurance more expensive than Obamacare and everyone will be forced to enroll in Obamacare....single payer.
You would have thought that the insurance companies would have seen this coming and would have balked at getting in bed with the ACA.
Sorry I mis-understood your intention. In reading, I concentrated on one portion without taking the whole of your post in context.
There’s no way insurance companies are going away.
They have tons of money, legions of lobbyists, and dispense mountains of campaign cash.
No politician is going to derail that gravy train.
I hope you are correct. There is some kind of fund in the ACA which will give the insurance companies $ if they suffer a short fall due to ACA. Maybe that is how they roped them in.
