State insurance commissioner rejects Obama’s proposal to extend canceled policies

State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler has rejected President Obama’s proposal to allow insurance companies to extend health insurance policies for people who have received notices that their policies will be cancelled at the end of the year.

Within two hours of President Obama’s news conference announcing the proposed administrative fix for Americans upset by their policy cancellations, Kreidler issued a statement rejecting the proposal.

“I understand that many people are upset by the notices they have recently received from their health plans and they may not need the new benefits [in the Affordable Care Act] today,” he said. “But I have serious concerns about how President Obama’s proposal would be implemented and more significantly, its potential impact on the overall stability of our health insurance market.”

“I do not believe his proposal is a good deal for the state of Washington,” Kreidler’s statement continued. “We will not be allowing insurance companies to extend their policies.”(continued)

I know they claim that Mr. Obama is really smart, but I don't think he saw all this coming.

A veto from state insurance commissioners prevents the Democrats from blaming insurance companies or Republicans.

again i think he did and din’t give a crap because the growing sh1tstorm is growing into a perfect crisis for him to just scrap it and go single payer.

dems in house and senae will intro single payer bills when it’s finally admitted it can’t be fixed, and put the pressure on the republicans to join because if they don’t then the spin will be they are letting the disaster continue because they want people to die without healthcare.

i believe this is the operating plan. media will go with it. dems will go with it. boner will probably capitulate because they will charge the repubs are more interested in ‘lynching’ holder with impeachment than caring about tens of millions of americans w/out healthcare.

boner has no idea how to explain they have more than enough ability to deal with both matters, properly.

Washington State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler is a Democrat, correct? If so, this is a pretty bold mutiny.

I believe it’s illegal for insurence companies to sell those policies. So what power does the president have to wave his paw and declare it’s now ok to do so?

So let it be written, so let it be done, so sez pharaoh Obama

He didn’t see it coming because he didn’t think about any of the actual repercussions from his little presser today. It wasn’t about saving anyone’s plan - he doesn’t give a shi# about anyone’s plan It was about stopping the RAT Rebellion, temporarily at least, and who would get credit for doing so. Obama wasn’t about to let Mary Landrieu introduce a bill, so he pre-empted her.

It won’t matter because there will be a new problem next week, each bite of the crap sandwich isn’t going to taste any better to the RATS who are running scared.

In today’s presser, Obama made over 280 first-person reverences, which once again proves that it is always about him and him only.

Exactly. Obama was not "present" when these rogues caused the downfall of American insurance industry.

If we recall, he is never present.

A poster on an earlier thread about this said Washington state actually wants 0Care. If so, this works in 0's favor.

His mind is in la la land. He doesn’t seem to give a darn about anything to do with the American public. What he really does not know is civics and how the U.S. government operates, about checks and balances, about judicial review, the legislature, the idea of honest elections, the structure and function of the military. What he does love and he’s said it in his book is the sound of the Muslim call to prayer. The Muslim prayer he learned by heart in Indonesia when he was a kid. At the same time In the U.S., his contemporaries were learning about American history and civics and free speech and the right to bear arms and American exceptionalism and hard work and not telling lies about cutting down the cherry tree, and Honest Abe and the “Gettysberg Address” and the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, Roosevelt and Truman and Eisenhower and baseball the the Fourth of July and Veterans’ Day.

Furthermore, I suspect the single payer legislation is already written and is stuck in a drawer somewhere.

While I’m aware that single-payer system is their goal, I disagree that they planned Obamacare to fail. Surely not at the launch time. They knew if that’s the case they would lose any credibility to install a new policy. No. They need Obamacare to succeed so people are more open to single-payer system.

Insurance companies cannot violate obamacare law even if Obama asks them too. They will be totally subject to criminal prosecution for any prosecutor that has a yen for some publicity. Spitizer is a good example.
