Despite massive spending, underachievement prevails

Did you know that the number of people on food stamps has grown over the past 13 years by nearly 30 million, which accounts for almost 20% of households receiving taxpayer-funded food subsidies? At the same time, the federal government is spending more per household than ever before – in fact, a 152 percent increase since 1965.

Our middle class is shrinking – the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, due in large part to insanely complex government rules and regulations that only those with resources can bypass. In fact, the top 7% of households own 63% of the nation’s wealth. During the so-called economy recovery, the other 93% of families lost wealth, putting into question the effectiveness of big spending government stimulus packages and who, in reality, the recovery truly helped.

ABC News reports that nearly 50 million people in the United States live in poverty, but yet, most Americans view our nation as the most prosperous in the world, fundamentally superior to our foreign counterparts despite our poor education system, insanely expensive healthcare industry and THE biggest government that we’ve ever had.

I have a friend who “teaches” in one of the poorest places in Birmingham Alabama. She says the kids, their parents—none of them gives a damn about learning anything

The is a mountain of difference between underachievement and plain old willful sloth. And, again, I have to remind those among us, SNAP is but one spoke of the entitlement wheel. If you are on SNAP, chances are better than even you get something else from the government.

People will not take ownership of anything, including their own lives, if everything is given to them. They have no vested interest in their own well being. The reason the middle class (taxpayer) is shrinking is because the government promotes and encourages a life of dependency and penalizes work and independence. An out of control government fears the independent and self supporting citizen who doesn’t need a government to survive. Thus the push to dumb down our educational system and promote the welfare state.

BECAUSE OF massive spending, “underachievement” prevails.

They only want to find out where to go stand in line to sign up for entitlements, or to do it on-line with help from a gooder ‘counselor’.

The only way to begin to change this degeneration of society is to stop giving indiscriminately. Many of the parasitic class will suffer or die. Tough luck to those who have no ethic, no integrity, no base values and no sense of personal responsibility. All that these many government “programs” without accountability do is contribute to personal sloth and degeneracy.

Looks like Res. LBJ's war on poverty and Pres. O’s redistribution of wealth/economic justice aren't going well.

Why would “spending” have ANYTHING to do with “achievement”?

There are schools in Africa and Asia that educate the educable for $10/year. There are schools in America that spend north of $20,000/pupil and achieve nothing.

“Spending” on “education” is a gigantic fraud.

Another thing I notice is that despite teaching the dangers of drug use (DARE programs) starting in kindergarten, and sex education in the schools at younger and younger grades, the two problems have exploded.

I like how they use “the past 13 years” instead of the past 5 years. I want to know how much food stamp enrollment has increased over the past 5 years. Hmm... I wonder what percentage of that increase occurred over the past 5 years, I wonder.

And guess what? If the top 7% gave all of their money to the other 93%, the 7% would get it all back, plus more within a few years.
