Hospitals refusing to accept Obamacare patients

Americans who expect to take advantage of high-cost healthcare services may be in for a surprise as many hospitals are refusing to accept Obamacare insurance, according to a new report from WatchDog.org. Most hospitals, the report cites, will only accept Obamacare from one or two insurance providers.

Worse, insurance bought privately outside of Obamacare would have been honored. ”For example, fourth-ranked Cleveland Clinic accepts dozens of insurance plans if you buy one on your own. But go through Obamacare and you have just one choice: Medical Mutual of Ohio.”

The problem is Obamacare’s cap on premiums has prompted many insurance companies to significantly limit reimbursement to doctors. More and more hospitals are beginning to refuse heavily used and risky Obamacare plans that were purchased within the healthcare “marketplace” due to fears that policyholders simply cannot afford expensive medical services.

But But BUT

It’s the law of the land.

And a flawed law, at that.

HA! So you get to pay premiums for something that you will not be able to get services for? Only the dems could come up with a plan like that.

Hospitals will always treat you in the emergency room. I believe they’re legally liable if you aren’t treated. I think this is for scheduled services (i.e. surgeries, etc.)

Ultimately they’ll ALWAYS take cash, and most hospital registrars have a fee schedule for cash. You just have to ask.

This is just peachy. But don't think many Democrats will concede their signature achievement is a failure. Their next proposal will be single payer, then nationalizing hospitals.

Only if the hospital doesn’t have an emergency room, and there will be hospitals that shut down their ERs or make them so small as to make them virtually unusable.
Just wait and see.

Another reason why Obamacare, essentially a money-shuffling scheme, has almost nothing to do with health care.

After the website is fixed, sometime late next year or later, there indeed will be people who will be given health insurance who didn’t have it before (at the expense of others). As this article notes, this doesn’t mean that they will be given health care, just health insurance.

How would they know? Did they poll both people that have signed up so far?

There are federal laws that have been on the books for years which forbid a hospital from denying “emergency” care to *anybody*,regardless of their ability to pay.And “emergency” is defined in the law so broadly that it allows deadbeats to use the ER as a 24/7/365 walk-in clinic...which many,*many* people do on a routine basis.

Hospitals demonstrating a lack of trust in Secy Sebelius to reimburse them. The clunky website is just the first symptom of a systemic problem.

Their behavior will be adjusted. Many hospitals are setup as tax exempt. The emperor will use his magical powers of lawmaking through rules to require treatment or a tax-exempt status will be revoked.

Nobody disses the emperor and gets away with it.

"Republican" Governor Kasich just found a way to have that expanded Medicaid in OH, his excuse being so the medical profession wouldn't lose jobs. So now Cleveland Clinic isn't going to accept them? Wow

I don't feel like health care exists in any meaningful way anymore. It's going to be overwhelmed by even more people who don't pay taking advantage of their new freebie. Besides which, expanded Medicaid will cause more Medicaid patients to move to OH. OH does not need more poor people.

Yeah, and the American people are gonna be just peachy keen with being treated like cattle in a third world country, while receiving a level of 'care' that more resembles a trip to the DMV than what they've grown accustomed to.

Yeah. There'll be all kinds of voter support for that. /s
