A World War II veteran married his boyfriend of 20 years in a historic ceremony at the Veterans Home of Chula Vista in California.
John Banvard, 95, and 67-year-old Gerard Nadeau, who served in Vietnam, said they wanted to have their ceremony among friends, so they chose to have it at the Veteran's Home, where theyve lived for the last three years.
'I never thought I'll be marrying a man,' Banvard told ABC News. 'It was something we were happy we could do.'

I smell rats with this one. I bet they have some kind of financial scam figured out. The most obvious is that the older one is dying, and has substantial death benefits that he wants to pass on to his buddy.
As the saying goes, “If you are willing to play the fool, you can fool anybody.”
Gay married death benefits include:
Military veterans’ spousal benefits.
IRS estate tax exemption.
Social Security survivors benefits.
Any California state survivors’ benefits.
All told, my guess is that the survivor stands to get as much as $1,000 a month out of this deal.
Lol - good one!
GayBC News.
He didn't need a sham "government approved marriage" to do that. You could will your house and assets to a perfect stranger if you want to.
That is my instinct as well boop. If we are wrong, then this world is truly darker than I fear.
Funniest family guy ever! Laughed my ass off. Had to watch twice!
It’s all about money, benefits, property etc. Sick....
Do you really think this 97 year old guy is playing with a full deck?
Thanks for ruining my dinner.
His rump is finally soft enough....
Does this mean th will get to sleep together in the Veterans Home? Woln’t they have to push two twin beds together, and the weight may push them apart from the middle. Such is life in Chula Vista these days!
Closer to 2000 a month, Veterans will be 1200, if dies from service connected, and social security will be anywhere from 800 on up, depending on what his benefits were. Maybe younger will go first and save us a few bucks.
I don’t think that is relevant to my point.
“Who wants chowder?”
Just look at their ages, never even mind anything else...
“John Banvard, 95, and 67-year-old Gerard Nadeau”
the SCM brings these little quaint stories out...they talk about what they actually DO in their relationships, and left unsaid is the horrendous violence in same sex relationships, the horrible rates of drug abuse and alcoholism, and the skyrocking rates of std,tb,aids,hepatitis,cancer,etc...
Confucious say: Some Doors Are Better Left Unopened.
its funny how you can always tell even with these old geezers...just the look if you know what I mean...
Is everyone’s monitor blurry?
